To get the $100, book your hotel by November 23, 2014, for stays from November 13, 2014, through June 30, 2015.

When you book your flight using Visa Checkout on Orbitz you can save $100 off a hotel.

Flights can NOT be booked as part of a package.

You have to book your hotel by November 23, 2014, for stays from November 13, 2014, through June 30, 2015.

However, most major chains are excluded.  So you can’t use the hotel voucher at hotels like Hilton.

You can find participating hotels by entering the promo code in the “I have a promo code” box when you search for hotels on Orbit.

Note: To get this deal, use Visa Checkout on Orbitz.com, NOT through the Orbitz app.

And you’re limited to 1 promo code per booking.  So if you bought 2 round-trip tickets and have two $100 vouchers, you can only use one $100 voucher per hotel booking.

Good Deal?

Saving $100 off a hotel is a good deal, but not if you have to pay more for your flight.  So let’s compare some prices.

New York

On Orbitz you’ll pay ~$405 to fly from Austin to New York on December 19, 2014, to December 21, 2014.

Booking through American Airlines via Kayak, you’d pay ~$454.

So you’d save ~$44 if you booked on Orbitz AND you’d get a $100 hotel voucher.

Miami

You’ll pay ~$356 on Orbitz to fly from Boston to Miami on March 7, 2015, to March 14, 2015.

You’ll pay ~$412 booking through the Delta website via Kayak.

So it looks like it’s worth booking your flight on Orbitz because you’ll save money on your flight and get $100 off a hotel stay.

But check your flights to be sure!

And remember, you can use your Chase Sapphire Preferred card to get 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on all travel purchases, including Orbitz.

You can get $25 in Orbucks when upload a photo of your checked bag receipt on the Orbitz App through December 31, 2014.

Note: The checked bag must be on a flight you booked through Orbitz.

Orbucks can be redeemed on Orbitz for hotel stays.  One Orbuck is worth $1 back on a hotel booked through Orbitz.

If you have to pay checked bag fees, this could be worth it to you to get $25 off a hotel.  But only if you do NOT have to pay more for your hotel.

New York

You’ll pay ~$372 for 2 nights at the Mayfair New York from December 19, 2014, to December 21, 2014, booked through Orbitz and Kayak.

Miami

You’d pay ~$798 on Orbitz to stay at the Ramada Miami Springs hotel from March 7, 2015, to March 14, 2015.

But you’d only pay ~$666 booking through Kayak.

You might pay more for your hotel on Orbitz, but you have 12 months to use your Orbucks.  So you don’t have to book a hotel right away.

Bottom Line

You can save $100 off a hotel when you use Visa Checkout to pay for your flight on Orbitz.  But most major hotel chains are excluded.

To get the discount, book your hotel by November 23, 2014, for stays between November 13, 2014, to June 30, 2015.

You’ll usually save money booking through Orbitz so it could be worth using Visa Checkout to get $100 off your hotel.

When you upload a photo of your checked bag receipt on the Orbitz App by December 31, 2014, you can get $25 in Orbucks, which is worth $25 towards a hotel stay booked with Orbitz.
