1. How Do You Get the Card?
If you’re not a Chase checking account holder, you can get the Chase Disney Visa Debit card by signing-up for an account in-branch or online.
Note: Chase Access Checking and High School Checking accounts are NOT eligible.
And Chase sometimes offers cash bonuses to folks who open new accounts. To get the bonus, you’ll need a coupon code (you can read Doctor of Credit’s summary here) which you can often buy on eBay.
If you already have a Chase checking account, you can upgrade for free to a Chase Disney Visa Debit card by visiting your branch or calling Chase at 800-935-9935.
Having a Chase checking account strengthens your relationship with the bank. And possibly increases your chances of being approved for big credit card sign-up bonuses with Chase in the future!
2. What Perks and Discounts Do You Get?
With the Chase Disney Visa Debit card, you’ll get discounts on Disney merchandise, dining, and tours when you pay with your card.
For example:
- Save 10% on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at Disney Store and Disneystore.com (mention the discount or use promotion code “DRVCMEMBER” online)
- Save 10% on select merchandise purchases of $50 or more at certain Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort locations (mention the discount when you pay with your card)
- Save 10% on dining at select Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort locations
- Save 15% on select guided tours and recreation experiences at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort
- Access Chase’s private character meet-and-greet locations at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, and get a free 5 x 7 photo
Plus, when you use your card to book a Disney Cruise, you’ll earn a $50 onboard credit.
Note: There are restrictions! Certain types of merchandise (like gift cards and park passes), and some shops and restaurants do NOT qualify for the discount!
You can read all the fine print on the Disney Debit site.
3. Is It Worth It?
If you already have an eligible Chase checking account, you can easily switch to Chase Disney Visa Debit card by visiting your branch or calling 800-935-9935.
Even if you’re not planning a Disney vacation, if you spend a lot of money at the Disney store it could be worth getting the card for the 10% discount.
If you don’t have a Chase checking account, I wouldn’t go out of my way to get 1 just for this card. Unless you’re planning a Disney vacation and know you’ll spend a lot on dining, souvenirs, and tours. Or just want a debit card with Mickey Mouse on it! 🙂
That said, you can get an automatic 5% to 6% discount by buying Disney gift cards at office supply stores or supermarkets with cards like:
- AMEX SimplyCash – 5% cash back at US office supply stores. Terms apply.
- Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express – 6% cash back at US supermarkets up to $6,000 per year; then 1%. Terms apply.
- Chase Ink Plus, Chase Ink Business Cash Credit Card, Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) – 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points (5% cash back) at office supply stores
Folks who travel to Disney resorts frequently might instead consider the Chase Disney Premier credit card. It currently has a $200 sign-up bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the 1st 3 months of opening your account.
Emily and I don’t earn a commission from this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best offers!
You’ll earn Disney reward dollars which can be used toward Disney vacations, park passes, dining, and merchandise. And get similar discounts to the Chase Disney Visa Debit card.
I don’t normally recommend this card because other cards get you much Bigger Disney Travel with Small Money! But it might be a good choice if you really love Disney.
Bottom Line
You can get Disney discounts of 10% to 15% and other perks with the Chase Disney Visa Debit card.
You can get a card by opening an eligible Chase checking account in-branch or online. Or upgrade your current Chase debit card to the Disney version if you already have an account.
With the card, you can save on Disney merchandise, dining, and tours. But there are a lot of exclusions.
It’s only worth getting the card if you know you’ll use the discounts. Very frequent Disney visitors might prefer the Chase Disney Premier credit card, which gets similar discounts but also earns Disney reward dollars.
And there are lots of other ways to get Big Disney Travel!
What’s your favorite way to save money on Disney vacations?
