Hurry!  Via The Gate, Orbitz is running a flash sale today only, July 24, 2017, until 9:59 pm Central Time.  You’ll save 18% on select hotels for stays through December 31, 2017.

This is a very good discount if you’d be paying for a stay anyway!  But there are restrictions, and most major chains are excluded.

Through 9:59 pm Central Time today, July 24, 2017, you’ll save 18% off select Orbitz hotel bookings when you use promotion code “FLASHSALE” at check-out.

Orbitz says most major chains are excluded.  But I did some test bookings and found Best Western, Hyatt, and Fairmont hotels included in the deal.

Here are additional terms:

  • You can only use this promotion code for hotels (NOT flight and hotel packages)
  • You must book online through the Orbitz website
  • Minimum 1-night stay
  • Savings are instant after you apply the promotion code
  • Travel dates are through December 31, 2017
  • Each account can only use this promotion code 2 times
  • Get up to $150 in savings per booking

This could add up to a very nice savings!  For example, you could save ~$65 on a one-night stay at the Hyatt Union Square New York.

If you miss out on this offer, Orbitz has another deal to save 15% off hotels through August 20, 2017.  Use promotion code “TRAVELTIME” to save on stays through December 31, 2017.  The terms of the deal are otherwise identical.

Keep in mind, if you book a chain hotel, you will NOT earn stay credits or hotel points, and your elite status will likely NOT be recognized.  You won’t miss out if you stay at an independent or boutique hotel.

And don’t forget to use a credit card that earns bonus points on travel, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, or Chase Sapphire Reserve.  This is a nice way to double-dip with the Orbucks you’ll earn from being a member of Orbitz’s reward program (free to join).

Bottom Line

Book select hotels through Orbitz by today, July 24, 2017, at 9:59 pm Central Time, and save 18% when you enter promotion code “FLASHSALE” at check-out.

Travel dates are through December 31, 2017.  Most major chains (except Best Western, Fairmont, and Hyatt) are excluded.  And you can use the code twice per Orbitz account, for a maximum savings of $150 per booking.

Let me know if you find a good deal!

It doesn’t really help to learn about a flash sale that expired the day before I get the information, now does it?
