There’s now a significantly better offer for the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express!
You’ll still earn a sign-up bonus of $150 back after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. But now the $95 annual fee is waived the first year!
This is a terrific card if you like cash back, because it has a high earning rate on purchases most folks make anyway!
Here’s what you can expect with this card.
Good Time to Try Out AMEX Blue Cash Preferred
There’s now a better offer for the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred! You’ll earn the same $150 sign-up bonus after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. But AMEX is now waiving the $95 annual fee for the first year!
Folks like this card because of its high earning at US supermarkets, gas stations, and department stores. And the categories do NOT rotate, which makes its bonus categories easy to remember.
- 6% cash back at US supermarkets on up to $6,000 in purchases per year
- 3% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores
- 1% cash back on everything else

This card comes with foreign transaction fees. So it’s NOT a good card to use overseas!
Is This a Good Deal?
The $95 annual fee is usually NOT waived the first year. So this offer is $95 better than the previous offer!
The AMEX Blue Cash Preferred is one of the best cards for shopping and gas stations. I recommend trying this card out for ~11 months to decide if it’s worth keeping. And because this is an AMEX card, you’ll be eligible for discounts through AMEX Offers.
Just remember, American Express limits folks to one sign-up bonus per lifetime, per card. So if you’ve had this card before, you can’t earn the bonus again.
I do NOT recommend this card for folks new to miles & points. That’s because there are credit cards with more valuable sign-up bonuses and benefits that you should open first.
The current offer for the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred is $95 better than the previous offer! That’s because AMEX is waiving the card’s $95 annual fee the first year.
You’ll still get $150 back after meeting minimum spending requirements. And a great return rate, like 6% back at US supermarkets and 3% back at US gas stations.
Will this waived annual fee convince you to give the card a try?
