Hyatt has just announced a couple fabulous changes to its loyalty program.  And a nice promotion, too!

1.  Changes to Suite Upgrade Award Expiration

You can earn 4 suite upgrade awards by earning Globalist Elite Status (stay 60 nights or earn 100,000 base Hyatt points in a calendar year).  And now, when you earn suite upgrade awards, Hyatt is giving you more flexibility when it comes to redeeming them!

Use Your Suite Upgrade Award at the Park Hyatt Dubai!

Suite upgrade awards used to be valid 365 days after you earn them.  But now, your upgrades are valid through the expiration date of your elite status!  So when you earn Globalist Elite Status, you’ll receive your 4 suite upgrade awards that are valid through the rest of the year, plus another 14 months.

In other words, the upgrades you earn in 2018 don’t expire until February 29, 2020.

Folks with Lifetime Globalist Elite Status will receive 4 suite upgrades around March 1 of each year.  And if they stay 60 nights or earn 100,000 base Hyatt points in a calendar year, they’ll receive an additional 4 suite upgrades with the same expiration rules.

These new rules mean you don’t have to scramble to find a good use for your suite upgrade awards!

Note:   These new expiration rules also apply to the 4 club lounge access awards you’ll earn for having Explorist Status.

2.   Bonus Points for Staying at Grand Hyatt & Hyatt Regency

Hyatt has incredible hotels all over the world.  And Hyatt points go further than most other hotel points.

Million Mile Secrets loves Hyatt because the points are easy to earn!  And because Hyatt is a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner.

Plus, you can open the Chase Hyatt card, which currently comes with 40,000 Hyatt points after meeting minimum spending requirements.  That’s enough for 2 free nights at an all-inclusive hotel, like the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos.  Or up to 5 free nights at a lower category hotel, like the Hyatt Regency Long Island.

The card also comes with a free night at a category 1 to 4 Hyatt hotel each cardmember anniversary.  So it can definitely be worth keeping the card open!

Bottom Line

Hyatt is extending the expiration date on suite upgrade awards and club lounge access awards for its members!  You’ll now have until your elite tier expiration date to use them.  Which means you’ll have through the end of the current year, plus another 14 months.

You can also earn 2,500 bonus Hyatt points for every 5 nights you stay at Grand Hyatt or Hyatt Regency hotels.  But you’ll have to register by July 15, 2018, and your checkout date must be on or before August 31, 2018.
