Hilton Double Up With Double Points Promotion
Link: Hilton Double Up Promotion
When you register for the Hilton Double Up promotion, you’ll get bonus points for every Hilton stay through December 31, 2017.
Here are the details:
- You must register before you complete your stay within the promotion period
- “Double points” applies only to Base Points earned
- There is NO limit on points you can earn during the promotion
- There are restrictions on the amount of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay at certain brands
- Bonus points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification
- Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China are NOT eligible for this promotion
- Folks with Diamond Status will earn an extra 10,000 bonus points for every 10 nights (up to 50,000 bonus points)
Is This a Good Deal?
If you have upcoming Hilton stays, this is a nice surprise and registering is no-brainer.
However, it’s important to note that this promotion will NOT truly double all the points you’ll earn at Hilton hotels. Hilton will only double the number of base points you earn for your stay (10 points per $1). So extra points you earn from holding a Hilton co-branded credit card will NOT be doubled.

For example, if you use your AMEX Hilton Honors card to pay for your reservation, you will earn an extra 7 points per $1 for your stay in addition to 10 base points per $1. And if you choose Hilton Points & Points, you’ll earn another 5 points per $1. So you’ll get 22 points per $1.
But the Hilton Double Up Promotion will only double the 10 base points per $1 you earn. NOT your total earnings of 22 points per $1.
Hilton points are generally worth ~0.5 cents each towards award nights, though they can be worth much more (or less!). So I would NOT switch my upcoming hotel stays to Hilton just for this promotion. Because there are other valuable hotel promotions right now, like the Wyndham Masterpass promotion, IHG Accelerate, or Starwood’s American Airlines promotion.
Bottom Line
Hilton has released another Double Up promotion! So you’ll get twice the number of base points you’d normally earn on all Hilton hotel stays through December 31, 2017. And if you have Diamond Status, you’ll get an extra 10,000 Hilton points for every 10 nights, up to 50,000 bonus Hilton points.
This is a nice bonus, but it’s NOT worth switching hotel stays to Hilton. Because there are plenty of other, better hotel promotions available.
That said, you should still register for the Hilton Double Up promotion, because registering only takes a few minutes and you never know when the opportunity to travel might come up!
