Motto is being introduced as Hilton’s new brand to mirror the hostel experience.  In an era of minimalism and simplicity, this will resonate with travelers looking for a no-frills but efficient and effective hotel experience.

We don’t know what these accommodations will cost yet, but if you want to stock up on Hilton points in the meantime, check out our article on all the ways to earn Hilton points in 2018!

Hilton Is Stepping Into Something New With Motto

Motto is a “micro-hotel with an urban vibe in prime global locations that empowers guests by giving them the freedom to create their own experiences in the world’s most sought-after cities.”  Along with a minimalistic approach, Hilton is also catering to a very connected travel audience by including features such as community hubs for working and socializing, and connected room technology to where guests are able to control their rooms through their smart phones.

To add to the experience, Hilton is putting a heavy emphasis on sleep.  With a curated sleep experience built with sound absorbing materials, sleeping kits with eye masks, essential oils, and black out shades, a good night sleep won’t be a struggle any longer!

Another pain point of traditional hotels is group travel.  It is a very disconnected experience as a typical hotel with connected rooms doesn’t offer a place to hang out or relax.  And it can be a pain to make sure rooms are connected with connecting doors.  Motto is making the hotel experience better for groups with the ability to book multiple rooms adjoining each other with inviting floor layouts, and the option to split payments between guests.  These are the perks traditional hotels don’t usually have.

There is a large shift in the hotel industry to be more catering to today’s travelers as they are trying to compete with other accommodations like AirBnb and VRBO.  The benefit to all of us is better experiences at a competitive price.

I personally am super excited about this announcement.  I’m not one for frills in my hotel experience, and I highly value quality of sleep and a well designed room.  Also, I’m happy to have another use for the Hilton points I’ve earned from my Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card (now the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card).  While Motto isn’t a hotel for those looking for ultimate luxury, I’m excited to see that Hilton is giving us more options. The information for the Hilton Surpass card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Construction on the first Motto hotel will begin in 2019 and you should be able to book it by 2020.
