Good news for anyone looking for a way to save cash on hotel stays.  Especially at hotels that aren’t a part of any major rewards program!

According to One Mile at a Time, Hotels.com is offering some people the opportunity to earn extra night credits for leaving reviews for hotels that have (somewhat) recently become bookable through Hotels.com.  If targeted, you’ll receive an email asking you to submit a review in return for the bonus night credit.

The review process doesn’t take much time at all.  So this could be an easy way to save a bit on your future hotel stays.  And I’ll explain how you can make the deal even better with the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card!

To Be Targeted for This Deal, You’ll Probably Have to Book a Hotel That Has Few or No Reviews, Which Could Definitely Be a Risk!  Folks With the Capital One Venture or VentureOne Credit Card Can Double-Dip With This Promotion!

With Hotels.com’s rewards system, you get a free night credit for each night you book through the website.  10 free night credits earn you a free hotel night valued at the average cost of the 10 nights you booked to earn your free night.  Essentially, you’re getting 10% off each booking.

By writing a review, you’ll earn your free night faster!

Get an Even Better Hotel Discount by Using the Capital One Venture Credit Card

There’s yet another way to make the most of your Hotels.com bookings.  If you’re a Capital One Venture cardholder, you’ll earn 10 Venture miles per $1 you spend on hotel stays booked and paid for with your card through a special Capital One link (through January 31, 2020).

This same deal also applies for folks who have the no annual fee version of this card, the Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card.

That could really add up!  Here’s more about the Capital One Venture card, which is the version we think is a better deal!

The Capital One Venture card comes with 50,000 Venture miles after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months.  Because each Venture mile is worth 1 cent, this bonus is worth $500 in travel.  And potentially even more if you transfer your Capital One miles to airline partners like Singapore Airlines or Air Canada Aeroplan.

In addition to the valuable welcome bonus, you’ll get:

  • 2 Venture miles per $1 you spend on all purchases
  • Statement credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee (up to $100) once every 4 years
  • 10 Venture miles per $1 you spend on hotel stays booked and paid for with your card through a special Capital One link (through January 31, 2020).
  • NO foreign transaction fees

The card comes with a $95 annual fee, waived the first year.

Because you earn a flat 2 Venture miles per $1 spent, this card effectively earns 2% back toward travel.  So you’re guaranteed to earn 2 cents towards travel for every $1 you spend.  That’s not the case with lots of other travel credit cards!
