Via Frequent Miler, Air Canada’s Aeroplan program currently has a 25% bonus on hotel point transfers!

This isn’t the highest Aeroplan hotel points transfer bonus we’ve ever seen, but it might be a good deal for some folks.  Especially if you’re looking to transfer Starwood points!

The deal ends April 16, 2018.

I’ll share the promotion details and help you decide if transferring hotel points to Air Canada Aeroplan with a 25% bonus is worth it.

Transfer Hotel Points to Air Canada With a 25% Bonus

When you transfer certain hotel points to Air Canada before April 16, 2018, you’ll get 25% more Air Canada Aeroplan miles!  Participating hotel loyalty programs include:

• Choice Hotels
• Coast Hotels
• Hilton
• Le Club Accor Hotels
• Marriott
• Radisson Rewards
• Shangri-La
• Starwood
• Wyndham

Is It Worth It?

I do NOT usually recommend transferring most hotel points to airline miles, because the transfer ratios are typically poor.  For example, 10,000 Hilton points convert to only 1,000 Air Canada Aeroplan miles.  Even with this transfer bonus, you’ll only get 1,250 Air Canada Aeroplan miles for your 10,000 Hilton points.

But if you collect Starwood points, this deal is might be worth considering!  Because you can transfer Starwood points to Air Canada Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio.  And even before this bonus, you’ll earn 5,000 extra miles for every 20,000 Starwood points you transfer.

By moving Starwood points to Air Canada Aeroplan miles, you’ll earn the usual 25% bonus, then earn an additional 25% more miles!

For example, you’ll get:

• 20,000 Starwood points = 31,250 Air Canada Aeroplan miles (25,000 miles + 25% bonus)
• 40,000 Starwood points = 62,500 Air Canada Aeroplan miles (50,000 miles + 25% bonus)
• 60,000 Starwood points = 93,750 Air Canada Aeroplan miles (75,000 miles + 25% bonus)

Note:   You can only transfer 79,999 Starwood points to Air Canada Aeroplan per 24 hour period.

This deal could make sense for you if you like to redeem Air Canada Aeroplan miles for expensive First or Business Class tickets.  Or if you are just short of an award and you need to top up your account

For example, it costs as little as 110,000 Air Canada Aeroplan miles for a round-trip Business Class flight to Europe!  You could get more than enough miles for this by transferring 80,000 Starwood points!

Bottom Line

When you transfer hotel points to Air Canada’s Aeroplan program before April 16, 2018, you’ll earn a 25% bonus.

For most hotel chains, this isn’t a terribly exciting deal, because the transfer ratios aren’t very good.  But if you transfer Starwood points, this one could be a winner for you!
