Via USA Today, starting today, AMEX Platinum cardholders and up to 2 guests can access US Escape Lounges by presenting their card, ID, and same-day boarding pass.
This perk applies to folks who have any version of the AMEX Platinum card, including The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Mercedes-Benz, and The Business Platinum® Card from American Express.
But don’t get too excited. There are only 3 Escape Lounges in the US. And one is a Priority Pass lounge, which means folks with AMEX Platinum cards already have access through the free Priority Pass Select membership you get with the card.

I’ll explain where you can visit an Escape Lounge for free with your AMEX Platinum card!

If you’re an AMEX Platinum cardholder (any version), you already have airport lounge access through the AMEX Global Lounge Collection, including:
- The Centurion Lounge network
- The International American Express Lounges
- Delta Sky Club (when you’re flying Delta that day)
- Priority Pass Select lounges
- Airspace Lounge
Starting today, you’ll also get access to 3 US Escape Lounges:

Folks who frequently fly through these airports will likely welcome this change! Because Escape Lounges offer more upscale free food and drinks compared to many airline lounges.
That said, if you’ve enrolled in Priority Pass Select (a free benefit of the AMEX Platinum cards), you already have access to the Escape Lounge at Minneapolis – St. Paul! So this is really a new benefit in Hartford and Oakland only.
Bottom Line
AMEX Platinum cardholders can now access Escape Lounges at 3 US airports – Hartford (Bradley International), Minneapolis – St. Paul, and Oakland!
This is great news if you’re an AMEX Platinum cardholder and fly through Hartford or Oakland frequently. But the Minneapolis – St. Paul location is already a Priority Pass Select lounge, which comes free with AMEX Platinum cards.
Have you visited any of these US Escape Lounges? I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments!
