Last Chance to Avoid $125 in Fees Your First Year With the AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Card

Through April 24, 2019, the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card has an increased 100,000 Marriott point bonus you can earn after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

But if you’re considering applying for this card, you’ll want to do it before March 28, 2019.  That’s when the annual fee will be increasing from $95 to $125 (see Rates and Fees).  Not only that but if you apply before March 28, 2019, the fee is waived for the first year – after that, it’s not.  So by getting your application in no later than March 27, 2019 you can avoid $125 the first year!

AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business Card Annual Fee Increase

If you apply for the AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business card before March 28, 2019, you’ll not only get the annual fee waived the first year, you’ll also only pay a $95 annual fee for the second year.  But the $125 annual fee will kick in on year #3.  That’s an easy $155 in savings ($125 in year #1 + $30 year #2).

Before you apply, make sure that you can qualify for this offer.  During the application, AMEX will have a pop-up window that will tell you if you’re ineligible to earn the bonus based on a variety of factors.

But you definitely aren’t eligible for the welcome bonus if you:

• Have or have ever had The Starwood Preferred Guest^® Business Credit Card or Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card
• Have or have had in the past 30 days the Marriott Bonvoy^TM Premier Business from Chase, the Marriott Rewards^® Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Bonvoy Business^TM from Chase, or the Marriott Rewards Business Credit Card
• Have opened, in the previous 90 days, a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless^TM from Chase, the Marriott Rewards^® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy^TM Premier from Chase or the Marriott Rewards^® Premier Credit Card from Chase
• Earn an intro bonus in the last 24 months on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless^TM from Chase, the Marriott Rewards^® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy^TM Premier Plus from Chase or the Marriott Rewards^® Premier Credit Card from Chase

If you currently have the AMEX Marriott Bonvoy Business card, the annual fee will increase to $125 on your next card renewal after March 28, 2019.
