I absolutely love the perks I get with The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.  So much so that I’ve recommended it to many of my friends and family.

One of the simplest benefits to use is the up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year for airline incidentals with your selected airline.  I usually use it for luggage fees or the taxes and fees on award tickets.  But I’d never considered the possibility of using it to fly a pet across the country!  And that’s exactly what my mom did.

Need to Transport Your Furry (or Squeaky!) Friend?  Use Your AMEX Business Platinum Card to Pay for Their Ticket!

She’s been fostering my sister’s dog ever since she moved away from home.  But my sister recently moved into a new apartment that allows pets.  So she was eager to get her sweet pup back, and it was a great excuse for a family visit.

I was able to find a good deal on tickets (for us humans) using my mom’s AMEX Membership Rewards points, then remembered that she still needed to use her annual statement credit for airline incidentals!

I was 99.99% sure paying for pet transportation would qualify for the fee reimbursement, but just to be sure, I chatted with AMEX online to verify.

My mom also called United Airlines to figure out how much flying the dog would cost, and knowing it was going to be expensive, she was incredibly excited to be able to use the benefit from her AMEX Business Platinum card.  Even better, it took less than a week for the credit to appear on her account!

It Only Took 5 Days to See the Airline Fee Reimbursement Pop Up on the Statement!

Interestingly enough, the last few times I’ve used my own annual fee reimbursement I’ve had to follow up with AMEX to actually get the credit.  Getting the credit wasn’t this quick and easy.
