American Express is currently sending out a targeted offer to The Business Platinum® Card from American Express cardholders worth 10,000 Membership Rewards points. To earn the bonus points, all you need to do is enroll your card in the Extended Payment Option. It’s THAT easy!
And it’s deals like these that make having many of the best credit cards for travel even more valuable!
We’ve heard reports that some folks have been targeted via email, while others have had success by calling American Express directly. So if you have the AMEX Business Platinum card, be sure to check your email and snail mail. Or consider calling in to see if they can extend the offer to you over the phone!
Why I’m So Excited About This Offer
This is an amazing deal. There’s no spending threshold to meet and no credit check required. And it literally took me all of ~3 seconds to enroll in the Extended Payment Option! It might be the easiest 10,000 points (of any points currency!) I’ve ever earned.
The Extended Payment Option allows you to carry a balance on your AMEX Business Platinum card (or other AMEX charge cards) up to a pre-approved amount. So it basically turns a charge card into a credit card. Meaning you no longer have to pay off your balance in full each month.
That said, I don’t recommend actually using the feature. Because any rewards you earn will be negated by the interest you’ll end up paying. And you don’t need to use the feature or carry a balance to earn the bonus for enrolling.
So, if you were targeted for the offer or are able to call in and get it, you should definitely take advantage of it! It’s also possible other AMEX charge cards are being targeted for a similar offer. So it’s worth looking into (call AMEX if you haven’t gotten a letter) if you’ve got another AMEX charge card, like the American Express® Gold Card.
