World of Hyatt is my favorite hotel program, so I really value their points. But there have been better Hyatt points sales than this in the past!
I’ll help you decide if this deal is worth it for you!
30% Bonus for Buying Hyatt Points

Through February 23, 2018, folks can earn up to a 30% bonus on Hyatt points purchases. To get the deal, head to the buy points promotion page.
You must buy at least 5,000 points in a single transaction to get the bonus. If you buy 4,000 points or less, you’ll spend 2.4 cents per point. But if you buy 5,000+ points, you’ll only spend ~1.85 cents per point.
Note: Hyatt only lets you buy 55,000 Hyatt points per year. But bonus points do NOT count towards that total. So you can buy 55,000 points and earn 16,500 bonus points with this offer.
Is This a Good Deal?
This is a pretty average bonus from Hyatt. But if you have a certain award stay in mind and need extra points, this deal could make sense.
Or, if you’ve done the math on a certain hotel room, and you’d get a value of more than 1.85 cents per point, it could be a good idea to buy points instead of paying cash for the room. Just make sure award nights are available on your travel dates!
For example, a room at the Hyatt Place Fort Myers/at The Forum can cost $240+ per night. But the same room only costs 5,000 Hyatt points per night. So by booking an award night, you’re getting a value of 4.8 cents per point!
You can buy 10,400 Hyatt points for $192 with this promotion (8,000 points + 30% bonus points = 10,400 points). So you can effectively reserve 2 nights at this hotel at a discount of $288 ($480 for 2 nights – $192 in points for 2 award nights).

You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt to top-off your account for an award stay if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, or (no longer offered) Chase Ink Bold or Ink Plus.
And if you have one of the cards listed above, you can indirectly transfer points you earn from the Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Business Cash Credit Card cards too!
You can also apply for the Chase Hyatt card, which comes with 40,000 bonus Hyatt points after you spend $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. Plus a $50 statement credit after your first purchase!
Bottom Line
Through February 23, 2018, you’ll earn a 30% bonus when you buy at least 5,000 Hyatt points. That means you can buy Hyatt points for as low as ~1.85 cents each!
This isn’t the best bonus we’ve ever seen from Hyatt. But it’s definitely possible to find hotels where buying points instead of paying the cash rate makes sense. As always, do the math!
Will you buy Hyatt points with this 30% bonus?
