Tasting Wine in Stellenbosch and Hiking Table Mountain Are 2 Reasons I’d Use $4,500 to Travel Back to South Africa!

Million Mile Secrets team members aren’t eligible for this giveaway.  But we want to share how we’d use the $4,500 for a dream vacation!

My colleague and friend Meghan shared how she’d use the money to take her daughter to Lapland, Finland!  Here’s how I’d use this generous prize!

What I’d Do With the $4,500 Travel Sweepstakes Prize

My wife and I spent 5 nights in Cape Town, South Africa in 2016 as part of our around-the-world-honeymoon.  Of the 20+ countries we’ve visited, this was certainly our favorite!  And we’d love to return.

You can find round-trip coach flights to Cape Town for less than $1,500 per person.  So the $4,500 travel sweepstakes prize could definitely take care of airfare and leave you with extra funds to use toward a hotel stay.  But traveling to Cape Town can take more than 20 hours!  And I prefer to fly Business Class when I’m stuck on a plane for that long.

Already Having Miles & Points for Flights Means We Could Use the $4,500 to Splurge on an Epic Hotel Instead

Because I’d redeem miles & points I already have to book the flights to South Africa, I’d use the $4,500 to splurge on a luxurious hotel stay in Cape Town.  Specifically, I’d love to stay at the One & Only Cape TownOne & Only is a chain of luxurious boutique style hotels.  My wife and I stayed at one of their hotels in Los Cabos and the food, service, and ambiance were over the top!

I’d Use $4,500 for a Luxury Hotel Stay at the One & Only Cape Town, Which Has Magnificent Views!

Nightly room rates at this hotel are ~$650.  So $4,500 would be enough for a 7-night stay!  But I wouldn’t book directly through the hotel chain.

I have The Business Platinum® Card from American Express.  This means I get access to the AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts.  And the One & Only Cape Town is part of this program.

Booking a stay through AMEX means I can get:

  • Early check-in (if available)
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Daily resort or hotel credit
  • Free daily breakfast for 2
  • 4:00 pm guaranteed late check-out
  • Room upgrade (if available)

I’ve used the AMEX Fine Hotels program for stays in Las Vegas, Los Cabos, and San Diego.  The value of this program is one of the many reasons I’ll continue to keep the AMEX Business Platinum card open.

Bottom Line

If I were the winner of the Million Mile Secrets $4,500 travel sweepstakes, I’d travel back to Cape Town with my wife.  We have a lot of airline miles & points we’d use to fly there.  So we’d splurge and use the $4,500 to book a hotel stay at the luxurious One & Only Cape Town.

Unfortunately, I can’t win the big prize.  But YOU can!  So be sure to enter for your chance to win And come back every day and comment for additional entries through May 31, 2018.
