INSIDER SECRET: You can redeem Barclaycard Arrival miles for many things that other points programs won’t allow. That’s because Barclays’ definition of a “travel purchase” is super broad.
One of the easiest-to-use-rewards are Barclays Arrival miles. There are no bonus categories to worry about or complex earning multiples. These points are designed for folks who like simplicity. Best of all, the points can be redeemed on any travel purchase, including cruise lines, trains, Airbnb rentals and more. With so many great benefits of Barclays Arrival miles, you might ask, do Barclays Arrival miles expire?
Since Barclays Arrival miles are focused on simplicity, it will come as no surprise that their expiration policy is also simple: Barclays Arrival miles do not expire as long as you keep the card open. However, closing the card with unused points will void any points you have not used.
Don’t worry. These are still great rewards with many unique uses that other point programs don’t have. I’ll explain below how you can creatively use these points to make sure none of them go to waste.
Do Barclays Arrival Miles Expire?
If you close your Barclays Arrival miles earning card, you’ll forfeit any unused points, so be sure to use any points before closing your card.
Luckily, Barclays Arrival miles are easy to use, have no blackout dates, and can be used at so many unique places that this shouldn’t be a difficult task to complete.
Each Arrival mile is worth one cent toward a statement credit on an existing travel purchase made in the last 120 days. Barclays’ definition of a “travel purchase” is quite broad, so you can redeem them for purchases that other rewards points can’t.
Unique Ways to Redeem Barclays Arrival miles:
- Any airline (even budget airlines like RyanAir, Spirit, etc.)
- Any car rental company (a few exclusions include renting trucks or trailers)
- Any cruise line
- Travel agency purchases
- Limousines or private cars
- Discount travel sites (Priceline, Orbitz, Hotwire, etc.)
- Account annual fees
As you can see, you are likely to encounter a few of these purchases at some point, and your Barclays Arrival miles can be used to redeem any of these purchases over $100 (or $25 minimum for account annual fee redemption).
This is the most notable redemption requirement:
You must redeem at least 10,000 Barclays Arrival miles at a time ($100+ worth) and you can redeem any specific amount above $100. This means, if you have a purchase of $123.12 that you want to redeem, you can use 12,312 Barclays Arrival miles to erase this purchase.
