How We Chose the Best Hotels in Bangkok Where You Can Stay Free Using Points

Narrowing down all of the amazing hotels in Bangkok to a top 10 list is a bit of a fools errand.  To be honest, we could put together another top 10 list (or 2) and not have any overlap.  That’s how many choices there are!  But you won’t go wrong booking any of these hotels with points, that’s for sure!

When making our choices we looked only at hotels that can be booked for free with points (not including certain extra or optional fees like parking, spa services, etc.).  And to make the decisions even easier, we took into consideration how easy the hotel points are to earn.  If you have to spend half your life, or your life savings, earning the hotel points you need for a free night, than that location didn’t make the list.

You can stay at every hotel on this list for 1+ nights for free with only the welcome bonus from 1 credit card, which we have listed.  So booking these hotels for free isn’t a pie in the sky dream reserved for folks with huge incomes or large trust funds.

1.   St. Regis Bangkok

Outside of St. Regis hotels, you’ll have a tough time finding accommodations you can book for free with points that come with 24-hour butler service.  Your butler is on hand to help you from the moment you arrive.  They’ll assist with everything from expediting you through check-in to unpacking your luggage!

This level of service sets the St. Regis Bangkok apart from other hotels and is one of the reasons it is one of only a few hotels in Bangkok to win the 2018 Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award.

What’s Missing From This Picture? You, Being Served by a Butler!

The St. Regis Bangkok is a Category 5 Starwood / Marriott hotel, so it costs 12,000 Starwood points per night.  Because of the Marriott-Starwood merger, you can convert Starwood points to Marriott points at a 1:3 ratio and vice versa (1 Starwood point = 3 Marriott points).  So you can also book this hotel for 36,000 Marriott points a night.  And after the loyalty programs officially merge on August 1, 2018, it will only cost 35,000 Marriott points per night.

If you don’t want to pay $300+ a night to experience personalized butler service, you can collect the Marriott points you need to book a stay for free with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card.

2.   Park Hyatt Bangkok

The architecture and design of the Park Hyatt Bangkok will make you feel like royalty from the moment you arrive.  And the rest of the hotel meets that expectation!  Folks rave about the quality of the hotel’s food and the special service provided by the Chef.

The hotel is located above the upscale Central Embassy mall and connects directly to the Phloen Chit Skytrain station.

An Infinity Pool With a View of the City Is the Standard for Bangkok Luxury Hotels.  And the Park Hyatt Bangkok Doesn’t Disappoint!

The Park Hyatt Bangkok is one of the more expensive upscale hotels in the city.  I saw prices over $400 a night during the holidays.  So it can be a true bargain at only 20,000 Hyatt points for a free night!

If you’re ready to take it easy on your travel budget, the easiest way to earn the Hyatt points you need is with The World Of Hyatt Credit Card.

3.   InterContinental Bangkok

The InterContinental Bangkok is one of the city’s largest hotels.  And is equipped with everything you’d want from a luxury hotel:  Spacious and well designed rooms, a rooftop pool, and a modern gym with a view, just to name a few!  The top-notch service and high quality amenities have led to the hotel winning many awards over the years, including the Asia’s Leading City Hotel award in 2017!

When you stay here you won’t have any excuse for not getting a good night’s sleep because you can choose your preferred pillow from the pillow menu.  And let’s be honest, nothing feels fancier than picking from a pillow menu with 13 different choices!

Inside of This Hotel, a Perfect Night’s Sleep Is Waiting for You!

You can book the Intercontinental Bangkok for 40,000 IHG points per night.  This can be a good use of IHG points considering the cash price can top $300 a night on peak dates.

If you’d prefer to book the hotel for free, you can stock up on IHG points quickly with the IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card.

5.   Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

Emily stayed at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok several years ago and she had nothing but good things to say about it.  She loved the breakfast spread at the lounge and the design and convenient features of the room.  But if you don’t have lounge access, there are 9 restaurants & bars at the hotel, including everything from fine dining to buffets to a coffee shop & a juice bar!  So you won’t go hungry.

The hotel is located near some of the best shopping in Bangkok with easy access to Central World, Siam Paragon, and MKB Center.  And it’s only a short walk from several Skytrain stations.

The Suites at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Have Incredibly Spacious Bathrooms

The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok costs 15,000 Hyatt points for a standard award night.  Given that you’ll pay $200 to $350+ per night to stay here, that’s a great value for your points!

The best way to earn the Hyatt points you need is with The World Of Hyatt Credit Card.

5.   The Athenee Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok

Folks on TripAdvisor gush about this lavish hotel and the exceptional staff.  Thanks to the friendly and helpful service, the Athenee Hotel has maintained a 4.5-star TripAdvisor rating with over 3,000 reviews!

If you decide to stay here you won’t want to miss the breakfast at the Rain Tree Cafe.  And you’ll be a short walk from the Central Embassy mall, Erawan Shrine, and the Phloen Chit Skytrain station.

The Only Thing That Compares to the Athenee Staff Is the Qualify of Its Rooftop Pool!

The Athenee Hotel costs 10,000 Starwood points or 30,000 Marriott points a night.  But after August 1, 2018, the same free night will cost you 25,000 Marriott points.

During the busiest times of the year you can pay $250+ for a night here.  But you could book the hotel for free with the Marriott points you earn with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card.

6.   Conrad Bangkok

The Conrad Bangkok is a great place to relax after a busy day in Bangkok.  The pool is surrounded by plants and trees which make it feel like a jungle retreat in the middle of the city.  And at the end of a hot day you’ll be thankful for the hotel’s rain showers.

The Conrad Bangkok is located in the popular central business district.  And there is a complimentary shuttle bus to take you to the nearest Skytrain station, so it’s easy to get around the city.

When You’ve Had a Long Day of Traveling, It’s Nice to Come Back to a Free Room That Looks Like This!

Hilton doesn’t have an award chart for their hotels.  So the price for a free night varies.  An award night at the Conrad Bangkok usually costs 40,000 Hilton points, but I saw prices as low as 34,000 Hilton points a night.  This is can be a good use of Hilton points because the hotel can top $250 a night!

The easiest way to earn enough Hilton points for a free night here is with the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card.

7.   Millennium Hilton Bangkok

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok is perfectly situated next to the Chao Praya River and operates complimentary shuttle boats for guests from the hotel to a nearby Skytrain station or the Asiatique mall.

I stayed here for my honeymoon and I still think the view from our room was one of the best I’ve ever had.  You can take in 360-degree views of the city while relaxing to live jazz music at ThreeSixty lounge.  Or you can feel the breeze with the lounge’s outdoor seating.

This Was the View From My Room at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok

Free nights at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok usually range from 27,000 to 40,000 Hilton points per night.  Over the same dates the cash price is typically $100 to $250.

The easiest way to earn enough Hilton points for free nights here is with the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card.

8.   JW Marriott Bangkok

Thanks to the personable and easy to relate to staff, the JW Marriott Bangkok is a home away from home for a lot of folks.  And the hotel is bit more family friendly than some of the more business traveler oriented luxury hotels.  Extra beds for kids under 3 are free, the Marriott Cafe has a kids’ menu, and babysitters are available for hire.

There is also not only a standard fully equipped gym, but they offer complimentary classes for guests, like yoga and Muay Thai.

In Between Visits to Your Free Hotel Room, Take a Minute to Relax in the JW Marriott Bangkok’s Spacious Lobby

Free nights at the JW Marriott Bangkok cost 30,000 Marriott points per night.  But after August 1, 2018, when the award chart changes, they will only cost 25,000 Marriott points per night.

The fastest way to collect Marriott points, and save yourself the $150 to $250 room rate, is with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card.

9.   Le Méridien Bangkok

Le Méridien Bangkok is a modern and chic hotel full of interesting artwork.  And it’s the perfect place to stay if you want to experience Bangkok’s nightlife.  It’s located across the street from the Patpong Night Market, which is packed with bars, restaurants, and vendors selling just about anything.

This is supposedly the only hotel in Bangkok which features circular beds in some of their rooms.  This sounds like a fun upgrade option to me!

The Le Méridien Is an Art Lover’s Dream Hotel!

Le Méridien Bangkok is a Category 4 Starwood hotel and costs 10,000 Starwood points or 30,000 Marriott points for an award night.  And after August 1, 2018, that price will drop to 25,000 Marriott points per night.

You can avoid paying $180 for a room by earning Marriott points with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card.

10.   Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok

The Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok is centrally located near several different public transportation stations.  So you won’t have a problem getting around the area.  And it’s just a short walk to nearby parks and trendy malls like The Emporium, EmQuartier, and Terminal 21.

While you’re here, be sure to spend a clear night taking in the city from Brewski, the highest rooftop craft-beer bar in Bangkok.

It costs 44,000 Radisson Rewards points for a free night at the Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok.
