Via Miles to Memories, some folks are NOT being charged the $450 annual fee for the Business Platinum Card from American Express OPEN .  That’s an amazing deal for a card that’s currently offering 100,000 AMEX Membership Rewards points after meeting minimum spending requirements.

That said, I can’t guarantee the annual fee will be waived the first year.  And there’s no clear reason why some folks are and some aren’t being charged the annual fee.

So if you’re considering applying for the AMEX Business Platinum card, make sure you can afford the annual fee in case it isn’t waived.

This is the highest public offer I’ve seen for this card.  You can read my full review for an explanation of when this card is worth the annual fee.

Some folks are also reporting that the $450 annual fee is being waived the first year.  But not everyone has been so lucky and we don’t know exactly why.

I recently opened the Amex Surplus, and its been almost a month, and I still have not been charged the annual fee for that card either. The app link did not say the fee was wavied.

Nova Rock,

I applied for the card via amex website. Read this post and then checked my agreement, account shows “waived for first year”.

I was approved on October 10 or 11th. I am being charged the annual fee.

Ray and pat,

Where did you find your offer – snail mail, online in random site, while signed into another Amex account, etc?

@ray – That’s great news!
