Only a couple of days ago, we saw Chase roll out the new Marriott Premier Plus card.  It comes with benefits like an earning rate of 6 Marriott points per $1 spent at participating Marriott & Starwood hotels, an annual free night at hotels costing 35,000 Marriott points or less, and automatic Silver Elite Status.

The card also comes with 100,000 Marriott points after spending $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.  But we’re already seeing an alternative sign-up bonus!  And depending on your situation, it could be an even better offer for you.

The information for this new Chase Marriott Premier Plus (2 Night Offer) has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets.  The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

We don’t earn a commission for this new offer, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!

Alternate Offer 2 Free Nights 200 Cash Back For The New Marriott Card Which Deal Is Better For You
Both of These Offers Have Their Strengths. But If You Know Your Travel Goals, You’ll Have an Easier Time Deciding

Here’s what you need to know about this offer.

New Offer for Chase Marriott Premier Plus

Link:   Chase Marriott Premier Plus (2 Night Offer)

The new offer for the Chase Marriott Premier Plus card is interesting.  You’ll earn a $200 statement credit after your first purchase within 3 months of account opening.  AND you’ll earn 2 free night certificates after spending $3,000 on purchases within the same time frame.  In addition to that, the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.

You can use the free night certificates at any Marriott hotel that costs up to 35,000 Marriott points a night.  And after Marriott & Starwood combine their award chart in August, you’ll be able to use them at Starwood hotels as well.  It’s important to note that these certificates expire 1 year after you earn them.  And you’ll have to complete your free stay(s) with the certificates before they expire, not just book a stay with them.

So Which Offer Is a Better Deal?

Each offer has has its positives and negatives.

With the new bonus, you’re essentially saving a total of $295 in cash ($200 statement credit + waived $95 annual the first year) over the original offer.  And because both free night certificates are good for hotels costing up to 35,000 Marriott points, you could value that portion of the bonus at a maximum of 70,000 Marriott points.

And the minimum spending requirement that is $2,000 less than the 100,000-point offer!

The free nights are only valued that high if you end up staying 2 nights at a category 7 Marriott (category 5 after August) before the free night certificates expire.  And because we don’t yet know which categories Marriott & Starwood hotels will fall into once they are under one award chart, that complicates it a bit.

Alternate Offer 2 Free Nights 200 Cash Back For The New Marriott Card Which Deal Is Better For You
Currently the Courtyard New York Downtown Manhattan Costs 35,000 Marriott Points a Night. But We Don’t Know What It Will Cost After August 2018!

If you like to stretch your points for lower-level Marriott hotels, then go with the 100,000 Marriott point offer.  Because you could get 10+ nights out of that bonus, depending on where you stay!

Or, if you want to stay at fancy Marriott hotels that cost more than 35,000 points per night, you’re better off with the 100,000 point bonus.

Also, you can still transfer Marriott points at a 3:1 ratio to Starwood.  So with this deal, you can use it for Starwood stays before August.  And Marriott points expire only after 24 months of inactivity.  So you won’t be rushed to use this bonus within a year.

Personally, I like to use Marriott points for their flights and hotel packages.  So the 100,000 Marriott point offer is what I would apply for.  And for most folks, having 100,000 Marriott points will give you MUCH more flexibility than the 2 free night certificates deal.

If the 2 free nights deal makes more sense for you, I would at least consider waiting until we know what category Marriott & Starwood hotels will be in after August before applying for the offer.  It’s likely that we’ll know which hotels are changing categories ahead of time.  And there should be some sweet spots to take advantage of.

From early reports, it looks like this card is restricted by the Chase “5/24” rule.  So if you don’t qualify, you can still get free hotel nights with one of our best hotel credit card recommendations.

Bottom Line

There is an alternate offer for the Chase Marriott Premier Plus card.  The original public bonus is 100,000 Marriott points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

But now you can apply for a deal that will get you a $200 statement credit and 2 free night certificates (for Marriott hotels costing up to 35,000) after spending only $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months.  Plus the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.

Both deals are interesting, but I think 100,000 Marriott points will offer more flexibility for most folks.  Because you’ll be able to stay more nights at lower-level hotels.  And (my favorite) put those points toward a Marriott flights & hotel package.

But if you’re looking for a romantic weekend getaway, 2 free nights and $295 in savings isn’t too shabby!
