Points to PointsB (thanks!) tweeted me about a 75,000 Point American Express Business Gold charge card after spending $10,000 within 4 months.

The terms say that you have to apply by August 9, 2012 to get the 75,000 point sign up bonus and use Bonus ID A2XF (which I’m assuming is already coded in the application link).

The terms also say that the “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product or any other Business Gold, Green or Platinum Card® account within the last 12 months.”

This isn’t my link, and I don’t earn a referral for this link, so please take screen shots before applying for the card. The $175 annual fee is waived for the 1st year and you earn:

3X points on airfare
2X points on advertising, gas, and shipping
1X points on other purchases

American Express seems to be running limited time mega sign-up bonus offers, but with large minimum spending requirements:

There was a 1-day version which offered 50,000 points for the business Gold card after spending $5,000 within 4 months on April 26, 2012.

Another 1-day offer for 50,000 points for the American Express Business Platinum card after spending $10,000 within 3 months on April 6, 2012.

And this same offer was available on February 29, 2012 and June 26 where you could get 75,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $10,000 within 4 months.

Bottom Line: I’ve always thought the regular Business Gold Card which offered NO sign-up bonus to be overrated, but a 75,000 point sign-up bonus definitely makes this card very attractive. Too bad the spending limit is higher than usual.

Do you have a post on AMEX membership rewards points?

Million Mile Secrets

@gkrebs23 – Not yet, but I would like to have a series soon.

My brother received a targeted offer for 75,000 miles for $2,000 in 4 months.

Can the offer code be transferred to a family member? My mother would like to use it since he just canceled his Gold Rewards card a few months ago.

Million Mile Secrets

@John – I don’t believe they are transferable.

What are the qualifications for getting a card like this? I read your post about how to apply for a business card and know you don’t need to have a traditional business to apply for a business card. However, I’m wondering what is the criteria for getting approved for an amex business card? How much does personal credit, having an EIN/Tax ID #, business income, and spending factor into the process? I’m just wondering how alot of these “average joes” can get cards like this.

Million Mile Secrets

@dc– I suppose you could apply for this if you want. 5 tickets on 1 flight will be tough. You could do either AA to Japan and then to BKK or Cathay to Honk Kong and then to BKK. Star Alliance my be better with options including Asiana, ANA, United, Thai, and Singapore airlines etc. to Asia

@Robert S – I usually apply for cards on the same day, though sometimes I do apply for really good limited time deals later on.

@Ariana – I don’t know the specific criteria, but if you’ve been approved for personal cards you should be able to get approved for business cards.

Daraius, is it a good idea to apply to different credit cards on the same day? For example, when you do your “App-O-Rama”, do you apply all on the same day? I am thinking about applying for two in October sometime. Thanks.

Thanks Darius. It’s just that we will make a big purchase on airline tickets to thailand for travel in February. I feel with all that spending, I wish I could get bonus points for them. Would you know the best way to get to Thailand on points? I read most of your posting. Do you suggest One world to JAL then from there to BKK? We need to get 5 tickets. Thank you.
