Update: A credit card offer in this post may no longer be available, but check the Hot Deals for the latest offers!Could you use Amazon 2-day shipping, plus streaming music, e-books, videos, and early access to sales?
Now you can get a 1-year Amazon Prime membership when you sign-up for the American Express EveryDay Preferred, American Express EveryDay, American Express Blue Cash EveryDay and American Express Blue Cash Preferred card and complete the minimum spending requirements.
This is in addition to the regular sign-up bonus!
But they’ve reduced the sign-up bonus on the Blue Cash EveryDay and Blue Cash Preferred by $50, so those cards aren’t that good a deal. Especially if you already have an Amazon Prime account!
Normally, Amazon Prime membership costs $99 per year. This is a great deal, especially if you shop at Amazon frequently. You could save a lot of money on shipping alone!
What’s the Deal?

I’ve written about the American Express EveryDay and EveryDay Preferred cards and how they’re a great choice for regular household spending. That’s because you’ll get 20% to 50% extra points if you exceed a certain number of transactions a month.
The American Express EveryDay card has a sign-up bonus of 10,000 American Express Membership Rewards points after you spend $1,000 in the 1st 3 months. You’ll get:
- 2 American Express Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend at US supermarkets, up to $6,000 per year, then 1 point
- 1 American Express Membership Rewards point per $1 you spend on everything else
- 20% extra points if you make more than 20 purchases in a billing cycle
- No annual fee
With the 20% points bonus, you’ll actually earn 2.4 points per $1 you spend at US supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year) and 1.2 points per $1 you spend on everything else. That’s not bad for a card with no annual fee!
With the American Express EveryDay Preferred card, you’ll get a sign-up bonus of 15,000 American Express Membership Rewards points after you spend $1,000 in the 1st 3 months, plus:
- 3 American Express Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend at US supermarkets, up to $6,000 per year, then 1 point
- 2 American Express Membership Rewards points per $1 you spend at US gas stations
- 1 American Express Membership Rewards point per $1 you spend on everything else
- 50% extra points if you make more than 30 purchases in a billing cycle
- Annual fee of $95, not waived for the 1st year
If you get the 50% points bonus, you’ll effectively earn 4.5 points per $1 you spend at US supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year), 3 points per $1 you spend at US gas stations, and 1.5 points per $1 you spend on everything else.
American Express Membership Rewards points transfer to dozens of airline and hotel partners. They’re great for folks looking for flexibility in their travel plans!
And now, both cards come with 1 year of Amazon Prime membership, which more than makes up for the annual fee on the American Express EveryDay Preferred!
2. American Express Blue Cash EveryDay and Blue Cash Preferred

You’ll also get a year of Amazon Prime membership after you spend $1,000 in the 1st 3 months on the American Express Blue Cash EveryDay and American Express Blue Cash Preferred cards. These are both cash-back cards that earn up to 6% cash back on regular household spending.
The American Express Blue Cash EveryDay card has a sign-up bonus of $50, plus the Amazon Prime membership. Normally, the sign-up bonus is $100. So this isn’t a terribly good deal, even though there’s no annual fee. You’ll also get:
- 3% cash back at US supermarkets, up to $6,000 per year, then 1%
- 2% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores
- 1% cash back on everything else
- No annual fee
And the American Express Blue Cash Preferred normally has a sign-up bonus of $150 (although in the past it’s been as high as $250). But for this offer, the sign-up bonus is only $100, plus Amazon Prime membership. This card also gives you:
- 6% cash back at US supermarkets, up to $6,000 per year, then 1%
- 3% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores
- 1% cash back on everything else
- $75 annual fee
I don’t like that they’ve reduced the sign-up bonus to include the Amazon Prime membership on these 2 cards!
What Do You Get With Amazon Prime?
Link: Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime is a paid service which gets you free 2-day shipping on many Amazon products, plus streaming video, music, e-books, and more. It normally costs $99 a year. But when you complete the minimum spending on the American Express EveryDay or EveryDay Preferred cards, you’ll get a promotion code for 1 year of membership!
With Amazon Prime, you’ll get:
- Unlimited free 2-day shipping on millions of Amazon products with no minimum order size
- Free streaming music (no ads!)
- Prime Instant Video including movies and TV shows
- Borrow free e-books for your Kindle device (1 book at a time)
- Get early access to Amazon Lightning Deals (30 minutes earlier than everyone else)
If you read lots of e-books on your Kindle or enjoy music, videos, and TV shows on your mobile device, you could do very well with this offer!
Note: After your year is complete, Amazon Prime will automatically bill your American Express card for the following year unless you tell them not to. So don’t forget to cancel (if you want to!).Bottom Line
The American Express EveryDay Preferred, American Express EveryDay, American Express Blue Cash EveryDay, and American Express Blue Cash Preferred cards now come with 1 year of Amazon Prime membership after you meet minimum spending requirements.
However, the cash sign-up bonuses on the Blue Cash cards have been reduced by $50, so if already have Amazon Prime, you could be better waiting for a different offer!
I don’t know how long this offer will last or if it will be stay as it is.
Amazon Prime membership normally costs $99 per year, and gets you unlimited free 2-day Amazon shipping, plus streaming music, videos, movies, TV shows, e-books, and early access to sales. This could be a great deal for folks who would normally pay for these services anyway.
