1.   New Hilton Promotion

Link:   Hilton Double Points Promotion

You can earn 2X base Hilton points when you register for this promotion and stay between May 1 and August 31, 2018.

You normally earn 10 points per $1 spent at Hilton hotels.  So with this promotion, you’ll earn 20 Hilton points per $1.  And even more if you have Hilton elite status!

Earn 2X Base Points at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah

Even if you have no Hilton hotel stays in mind, it’s a good idea to register for this promotion.  Because you never know what unforeseeable event will lead you to the front desk of a Hilton hotel.  Registering is easy, and just takes a few seconds.

2.   25% Bonus When Transferring Hotel Points to American Airlines

Link:   Convert Hotel Points to American Airlines Miles

Through May 31, 2018, you’ll get 25% more miles when you transfer your hotel points to American Airlines.

I normally strongly discourage this, because hotel points are usually worth MUCH more when you use them for hotel stays.  And most hotel points do NOT transfer to American Airlines at a 1:1 ratio.  For example, it costs:

  • 5,000 Choice points to get 1,000 American Airlines miles (1,250 after the bonus)
  • 10,000 IHG points to get 2,000 American Airlines miles (1,500 after the bonus)
  • 70,000 Marriott points to get earn 25,000 American Airlines miles (31,250 after the bonus)

Those aren’t spectacular returns, even with a bonus.

However, Starwood points transfer to American Airlines at a 1:1 ratio.  Plus you get 5,000 bonus miles for every 20,000 points you transfer to airline miles.  So if you transfer 20,000 Starwood points to American Airlines, you’ll get a total of 31,250 American Airlines miles (20,000 Starwood points + 5,000 bonus miles + 25% bonus).

That’s a pretty spectacular deal, and more than enough for a one-way flight to Europe!

You can register for this bonus here.

3.   Plastiq Charges Reduced Fees for New Users

Link:   Plastiq Promotion

Plastiq is a service that lets you use certain credit cards to pay many bills that don’t normally accept a credit card as payment, like a mortgage.  It’s a handy tool for folks who need help meeting minimum spending requirements.  But because they normally charge a 2.5% fee, it’s NOT a good way to generate miles & points on a regular basis.

Deals We Like reports that Plastiq is having a promotion for new users, where you will only pay a 2% fee when you schedule up to 6 mortgage, rent, or other real estate transactions.  You’ll need to submit the first payment by May 31, 2018, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time.

Note:   Visa and American Express cards are NOT accepted for mortgage payments with Plastiq.
