Need to top off your Hyatt account?  Here’s good news!

Via One Mile at a Time, you can buy Hyatt points with up to a 40% bonus through August 9, 2017!  This offer is NOT targeted, so if you have a specific award stay in mind, this could be a good deal!

40% Bonus When Buying Hyatt Points

Link:   Hyatt Points Promotion

Through August 9, 2017, you’ll earn bonus points when you buy at least 5,000 Hyatt points.  Hyatt had a similar promotion last year.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • 30% bonus points when you buy between 5,000 and 9,000 Hyatt points (~1.84 cents per point)
  • 40% bonus points when you buy 10,000+ Hyatt points (~1.71 cents per point)

Hyatt limits points purchases to a maximum of 55,000 Hyatt points per year.  But with this deal, you’ll receive a total of 77,000 Hyatt points if you buy the maximum number of Hyatt points (55,000 Hyatt points + 22,000 bonus Hyatt points).

Is This a Good Deal?

If you buy enough points to earn a 40% bonus, you’ll be purchasing Hyatt points for ~1.71 cents each.  That’s one of the best prices we’ve seen for Hyatt points!  They usually cost 2.4 cents each.

It’s possible to get a value much higher than 1.71 cents each from Hyatt points.

For example, you can pay ~$360 for 15,000 Hyatt points and 6,000 bonus points.  That’s more than enough to book an award night at the Park Hyatt Mallorca, which costs 20,000 Hyatt points, or ~$700, per night.  That’s a value of 3.5 cents per point ($700 / 20,000 Hyatt points).

As always, do the math to see if it makes sense for your situation before buying points!

Note:  You will NOT earn bonus points if you buy Hyatt points with the Chase Hyatt credit card or a card with a travel bonus category.  That’s because Hyatt points purchases are through a 3rd party.

If you aren’t interested in buying Hyatt points, there are other ways to earn them!

The Chase Hyatt card now comes with 40,000 Hyatt points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And Chase’s tighter application rules do NOT apply to the Chase Hyatt card!

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt!  If you have the Chase Sapphire ReserveChase Sapphire Preferred Card, Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, Chase Ink Plus (no longer available), or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available), you can transfer your points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Bottom Line

You’ll get up to a 40% bonus when you purchase Hyatt points through August 9, 2017.

This promotion gives you the opportunity to buy Hyatt points for as little as ~1.71 cents per point!  That’s very cheap, but you’ll still want to do the math to see if the promotion makes sense for you.  Buying points for an award stay instead of paying cash for the room could save you lots of money!
