Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.
On June 29, 2017 (in just a few days!), you’ll NO longer earn 2 free nights at any Hyatt after meeting minimum spending requirements. Instead, the card will come with a 40,000 Hyatt point sign-up bonus after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.
Here’s more about this news. And what it means for you.
New Hyatt Card Sign-Up Bonus
Link: Chase Hyatt
As of June 29, 2017, instead of the current 2 free nights sign-up bonus, you’ll earn 40,000 Hyatt points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your Chase Hyatt card.
The card’s other perks will remain the same:
- 3 Hyatt points per $1 spent at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Hyatt points per $1 spent at restaurants, on airline tickets
purchased directly from airlines, and at car rental agencies
- 1 Hyatt point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- A free night at a Hyatt Category 1 to 4 hotel each cardmember year
- Automatic Hyatt Discoverist elite status
- 5,000 bonus Hyatt points when you add an authorized user and make a purchase within the first 3 months of account opening
And there will still be a $75 annual fee that’s NOT waived the first year.
Should You Apply Now?
If you’ve been considering this card, I’d apply before these changes go into effect. Because the 2 free night certificates you’ll earn with the current sign-up bonus are good for ANY Hyatt hotel around the world! Including Hyatt’s top-tier Category 6 and Category 7 hotels, which cost 25,000 or 30,000 Hyatt points per night.
That said, folks who like to stretch their points at lower-category hotels might welcome the change. For example, with 40,000 Hyatt points, you could get 5 free nights at Hyatt category 2 hotels, like the Hyatt Regency Montreal.
And don’t forget, the Chase Hyatt is NOT affected by the 5/24 rule. Plus, Chase usually allows folks to get the sign-up bonus on their cards again as long as you haven’t received the bonus in the previous 2 years AND you don’t have the card currently open.
Instead, you’ll earn 40,000 bonus Hyatt points after spending $2,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your Chase Hyatt card.
I’m happy that Hyatt has given everyone a heads-up! So you can apply before the changes go into effect.
