I shared the news that Hyatt would be re-vamping their loyalty program starting March 1, 2017.  And now they’ve shared more details about what the new program will look like.

As part of the new program, they’ve launched a website, “For a World of Understanding.”  And there will be a television spot during the Oscars this Sunday night.

Hyatt wants to deepen community engagement and provide new, hands-on experiences for guests.  I like that they’re introducing educational opportunities with a focus on understanding and empathy!

And they’ve kindly offered to gift Hyatt Globalist (top-tier elite) status to a Million Mile Secrets reader in April 2017!

Changes Are Coming to Hyatt Next Week, and It’s Not Just About Points, Stays, and Elite Status

I’ll share the updates so you’ll know what to expect from Hyatt starting next month!

Starting March 1, 2017, Hyatt will change its loyalty program to the new World of Hyatt.

The award chart isn’t changing.  But there are big changes to how folks earn and keep elite status.  In general, you’ll require more nights (or spending) to achieve status with the new program.

Hyatt wants their new program to be as much about engaging with and understanding the community as it is about earning and redeeming points.  Emily and I can definitely relate, because for us, travel is about connection, exploring new cultures, and meeting new people!

Here’s a sneak peek of the video they’ll air at the Oscars this weekend.  It’s set to “What the World Needs Now,” written by Burt Bacharach and performed by Andra Day.

Educational Opportunities and Experiences

Hyatt is also partnering with AFAR, a company which promotes travel as a way of increasing understanding.  To start, they’re introducing 2 initiatives:

  • Offering an “immersive experience” in Tokyo to select members (more details to follow)
  • Partnering with Learning AFAR / No Barriers USA to bring an immersive educational program to Chicago Public School students, including a trip to Costa Rica

And it sounds like they’ll continue to offer these interesting experiences!

Shh!  You’ll Have a Chance to Win Top-Tier Status!

Hyatt has kindly offered to gift Globalist (top-tier) status to one Million Mile Secrets reader!

Globalist members get perks like:
