If you activated your Chase Freedom card’s 3rd quarter bonus, you can earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on up to $1,500 in spending at restaurants & wholesale clubs (like Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s) through September 30, 2016.

Note:  Wholesale club purchases like gas, fuel, or service purchases like travel, insurance, cell phones, and home improvement do NOT qualify as 5X bonus point purchases.

You’ll be able to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points at wholesale clubs through December 31, 2016, too.  But you’ll need to activate the 4th quarter bonus!

Here are 5 ways you can earn the maximum number of points this quarter.

I always keep the Chase Freedom card in my wallet.  Because it’s easy to earn a lot of Ultimate Rewards points or cash back on purchases I’d probably make anyway.

And if you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Plus, or Ink Bold (no longer available) card, you can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline and hotel partners for Big Travel!

Discover it

Through September 30, 2016, folks with the Discover it card can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in spending at Amazon and home improvement stores, when you activate the bonus.

And even better, Discover will automatically match all the cash back you earn dollar for dollar at the end of your first year of card membership, for new cardmembers only.

So new cardholders can effectively earn 10% cash back on bonus category spending!

I like that you can earn 5% cash back at Amazon on items like gift cards, Amazon Fresh purchases, and items from 3rd party sellers.  This makes it easier to get the maximum amount of cash back!
