You can speed through the lines at US customs and immigration with Global Entry.  And most folks will get approved for TSA PreCheck on each flight.

Global Entry is valid for 5 years and costs $100.  But your fee is refunded if you have a card like the:

If your local Global Entry center has a long delay, consider scheduling an appointment in a city you’ll be traveling to.

In October, I applied for Global Entry using the American Express Mercedes-Benz Platinum credit.

But it was a 2 month delay if I went to the center in Austin!  So I went to the center in Chicago during the Chicago Seminars.

The interview was relaxed and ~5 minutes with a polite officer.  And I got my Global Entry card ~1 week later!

However, my credit didn’t post automatically to my American Express Mercedes-Benz Platinum account.  So I had to call AMEX at 800-525-3355 to get it resolved!

Check your American Express account to be sure you get the credit!

LUCKY me! On April 9, 2017, just reserved the first available date at LAX - next date was September 6th, which is 5 months from now. I waited 1 hour, then logged back in the website, changed my appointment date, and I was able to reserve an appointment for April 13 2017!

Denver CO is the same - today is March and the closest appointment is at the end of October = 7 months wait time. No walk-ins, no other centers. Refreshing for a week - does not work at all.

The first available appointment at SFO for me was over 6 months out. Today I sat at my computer and refreshed every two minutes for about 2 hours and was able to land one for early next week 🙂

From this I noticed that scheduling is dynamic so as soon as one opens, anybody can grab it, the refresh isn't once a day or even once every hour, it is immediate. That is why, checking once a day likely isn't going to get you a substantially better appointment time. Persistence is key!

Saving you minutes by costing you hours - Global Entry

Thanks for the tip on refreshing. I had first received an appointment for three months out and now I have one in four days!
