I know lots of folks who love to vacation at sea.

Cruises are popular because there’s so much included in the price, like meals, onboard entertainment, and unlimited use of the water slides!  So it’s a great option for a family getaway.  Plus, many cruise itineraries include visits to multiple destinations.  And you only have to unpack once!

If you’re planning a cruise and are a Costco member, I recommend checking options on Costco Travel.  Because similar to warehouse club’s vacation packages, you can often find the best prices and get extra perks.  For example, a Costco Travel cruise might come with a credit to use onboard or an all-inclusive beverage package.

I’ll share the benefits of booking a cruise with Costco Travel!  And compare prices and perks you find through the warehouse club with what you’ll get booking directly or through a 3rd party site.

Book a Trip Through Costco Travel With the Most Popular Cruise Lines!

You can book just about any cruise that’s available directly through the cruise line on Costco Travel.  The prices are typically similar or cheaper to those you’ll find booking directly.  But the benefit of using Costco Travel is you could earn a Costco cash card, which you can then use to purchase merchandise or gas at any of their warehouse clubs in the US and Canada.

If you’re looking for exclusive Costco Travel cruise deals, I recommend checking out the “Featured Cruises” section of the site.  These packages might come with a larger Costco cash card or extra perks like an all-inclusive beverage package.

And if you’re not one to plan ahead, I recommend checking out LastMinuteCruises.com.  Because you can snag some fantastic deals at prices cheaper than Costco Travel or any other travel site.  But you’ll want to book quickly if you see a last minute cruise you like because there are a limited number of rooms available at the discounted prices.

Here are a few sample cruises you can book through Costco Travel.

1.   Disney Cruise to the Bahamas

I found a 7-night cruise on the Disney Fantasy, which departs from Port Canaveral in Florida and stops in:

  • Tortola, British Virgin Islands
  • St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
  • Castaway Cay, Bahamas

Disney cruises are popular because they include Disney Character experiences, excellent food, and adult nightclubs and lounges.

Castaway Cay Is a Private Island in the Bahamas and Is an Exclusive Cruise Port for Disney Cruise Line Ships!

For a sample trip in July 2017, the cheapest price I found on Costco Travel for 2 adults and 1 child under age 12 was ~$6,933, which includes all taxes & fees.  But you also get a $570 Costco cash card.  This effectively makes the cruise price ~$6,363 (~$6,933 cruise cost – $570 Costco cash card).

Getting a Costco Cash Card Worth Hundreds of Dollars for Booking a Cruise Through Costco Travel Is Like Earning Cash Back!

I checked the price of the same itinerary directly through Disney Cruise Line and it’s ~$68 more AND you don’t get any additional perks like you do with Costco Travel.

You’ll Pay More for the Same Cruise Directly Through Disney Than You Will Booking Through Costco Travel

The price on Costco Travel is also better than what I found on OrbitzExpedia, and Priceline.

And keep in mind, unlike other cruise lines, Disney cruise prices usually increase as you approach the departure date.  So it’s best to book far in advance to get the best deal!

2.   Summer Cruise to Alaska

A cruise to Alaska looks fun!  I found a 7-night cruise on the Norwegian Jewel, which departs from Seattle and stops in:

  • Ketchikan, Alaska
  • Juneau, Alaska
  • Sawyer Glacier, Alaska
  • Skagway, Alaska,
  • British Columbia, Canada

Sawyer Glacier Is One of the Most Popular Stops on Cruises to Alaska!

I searched a sample trip on Costco Travel for 2 adults traveling in July 2017.  You can book an inside stateroom for ~$2,350, which includes all taxes & fees.  And you get:

  • $120 Costco cash card
  • Ultimate beverage package for 2, which includes free drinks (including alcohol)

The beverage package normally costs $79 per guest per day.  So this is a great add-on for booking through Costco Travel!

I checked Norwegian directly and the trip price is the same.  You also have the option to get the ultimate beverage package at no added cost.  But you won’t get the Costco cash card, which is the reason booking the cruise through Costco Travel is a better deal!

3.   Mediterranean Cruise Through the Greek Islands

There are many amazing cruise itineraries for folks looking to sail the Mediterranean Sea.  Million Mile Secrets team member Keith has been on an Eastern Mediterranean cruise, which included 1 day in Santorini.  He really enjoyed the majestic views from the volcanic island!

Costco Travel Cruises

Santorini Is a Stop on Many Mediterranean Cruises. It’s One of the Most Visited Greek Islands Because of the Unbelievable Scenery.

I found a 7-night Mediterranean cruise on the Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas, which departs from Venice, Italy and stops in:

  • Dubrovnik, Croatia
  • Kotor, Montenegro
  • Santorini, Greece
  • Katakolon, Greece

Through Costco Travel, the cost for 2 adults traveling in August 2017 is ~$2,485.  This price is for an ocean view room because you won’t want to miss the beautiful views!

For this sample trip, the cost is the same whether you book through Costco or directly through the cruise line.  I also checked Cruises.com and other online travel agencies, but couldn’t find a cheaper price.  Again, the benefit of booking through Costco Travel is you get a $165 Costco cash card.

Cruise Tip: Consider Travel Insurance

Link:   InsureMyTrip

While cruises can be fun, there’s always potential for some unknowns, like bad weather.

For example, Million Mile Secrets team member Keith’s parents were scheduled to take a Disney cruise last year from New York to the Bahamas.  But a hurricane caused the cruise line to change the destination to Canada just 2 days before departure.  These itinerary changes are allowed in the fine print when you book a cruise.

Costco Travel Cruises

You Can’t Control the Weather! That’s Why Folks Might Consider Purchasing a Travel Insurance Policy to Avoid Losing Money If Your Cruise Itinerary Is Changed and You’re No Longer Interested in Going

Disney offered a refund to Keith’s parents after several hours on the phone with customer service.  But technically the cruise lines do NOT have to refund passengers when there’s a change to the trip.

That’s why you might consider purchasing a travel insurance policy.  Some plans specifically provide coverage for itinerary changes or excursion cancellations due to weather.  I recommend comparing policies at InsureMyTrip, which allows you to quickly check prices and coverage with different companies.

Earn Bonus Miles & Points When You Pay for a Costco Travel Cruise With These Cards

When you book a cruise through Costco Travel, you can earn bonus cash back, miles, or points when you pay with a card that includes travel as a bonus category.  Here are a few to consider!

Bottom Line

If you’re a Costco member, you can find amazing deals on cruises through Costco Travel.  The prices I found are usually the same or cheaper than what you’ll find booking directly with the cruise line or through online travel agencies like OrbitzExpedia, and Priceline.

But the main reason to book through Costco Travel is they often include extra perks like a Costco cash card or unlimited beverage package.  For example, a sample Disney Cruise I found comes with a $570 Costco cash card, which you can use toward merchandise or gas at any of their warehouse clubs in the US or Canada.

If you book a cruise, consider researching travel insurance plans through InsureMyTrip.  Because bad weather can cause the cruise line to change the itinerary.  And they’re typically NOT required to offer a refund.

  1. We were going to use Costco for a Med. cruise 2 yrs ago but our T.A. agreed to match all benefits so wee booked thru him. Everyone wins.

  2. I booked my cruise using Costco Travel this weekend. I checked with independent travel agent and also cruise line itself, Costco Travel beats both of them. Just after a day NCL have offered a $100 onboard credit and Costco Travel have made changes to my reservation to include that without any issues. This is my first time cruising and it was easy to book cruise using Costco Travel with little bit of research online.

  3. Have used Costco Travel several times for cruises- almost always they have the best deal. You might want to call rather than booking online, however- for one cruise we got a better price than was posted online. You can also confirm extras with the agent and correct any misunderstandings prior to booking.
