  1. Does this mean that we get 5x points by using chase freedom card in Costco gas station as well?

  2. Of course Costco doesn’t take Discover, but Sam’s Club would earn the 5%, right?

  3. Discover 5% is applicable for Costco online purchases – confirmed with Chat agent:

“Thank you for all of your patience, I am happy to confirm that Costco will qualify for the 5% cash back for this quarter when making your purchases online.”

  4. The Chase web site says “Merchants in the Gas Stations category sell automotive gasoline that can be paid for either at the pump or inside the station, and may or may not sell other goods or services at their location. Please note that some merchants that do not specialize in selling automotive gasoline are not included in this category; for example, truck stops, boat marinas, oil and propane distributors, and home heating companies.” Non-traditional gasoline sales outlets (like at Sam’s, the grocery store, or Wal-mart) most likely will not earn the 5%.

  5. @Vishal Good catch! I was thinking of in-store purchases since Costco only takes Visa. I forgot that they take additional credit cards online.

  6. Do rental cars count as ground transportation?

  7. Sorry, is the Freedom a Cash Back card, or a oints card? The Chase site states cash back and this article states its the same thing; confusing me.
