Because some countries require a visa and using the US Department of State’s website isn’t very efficient (or you may not be a US citizen), this free tool can save you time.  You can use Timatic to see if you need a visa when you’re visiting other countries.

Timatic is a quick way to see if you need a visa when traveling.  And it’s what the airlines use to see if you need a visa before they let you check-in and board your flight.

You would normally have to pay for a subscription for Timatic, but you can use it for free on some airline websites, like United Airlines.  You can also use the Star Alliance website.  And you do NOT have to fly on United Airlines or another Star Alliance airline to use Timatic.

Step 1 – Enter Your Travel Details

Enter your itinerary and travel information.  Then click “Check Passport Visa and Health Advice.”

Because visa requirements are always changing, you should double-check with the country’s embassy to make sure the information from Timatic is accurate.

    i have a lot of united miles and want to book a trip to greece. is there a way to see the available seats on partner airlines using the united website? if so, how? if not, do you have to go to each partner and check their sites?
