Last Minute Travel Club is a site with discounts on hotels, flights, and cruises.  Contrary to the name, you DO NOT have to book your travel at the last minute, though the discounts could be better at the last minute.

Membership usually costs $50, but for a limited time you can get a free membership by using promo code “TURKEYSENTME”.

In my experience, the hotel prices are better than those found elsewhere.  But the flight prices aren’t lower than elsewhere.

You have to be a member to access prices on Last Minute Travel Club.  And you will not earn elite stay credit at hotels if you book via Last Minute Travel Club.  Some hotels might give you elite benefits, but it varies with the hotel.  But the discount could be worth giving up elite benefits.

You have to pay for your reservation in advance.  And you have to cancel within 3 days of check-in (Disney hotels require you to cancel 5 days before check-in and National Parks require cancellation 21 days before check-in) or you will be charged 1 night.

You might have to wait 48 hours for your reservation to confirm as some rates are “on request.”  This means that the hotel has 48 hours to accept or reject your reservation.

The terms say that you can choose to renew your membership in 1 year.  But you still get access to the site if you don’t renew, though you can’t actually book travel.

Last Minute Travel Club may not have a large selection of hotels in certain cities. But I found a lot of choices while testing it out.

Comparing Last Minute Travel Club Rates

A.  Chicago – Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel

I compared rates for March 22, 2014 at Palmer House a Hilton Hotel using Last Minute Travel Club and the Hilton website.

You would pay $134 a night booking through Last Minute Travel Club.

You Pay $133 A Night At Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel Using Last Minute Travel Club

If you booked directly through Hilton, you would pay $173 a night or $40 more!

You Would Pay $173 or $40 More Through The Hilton Website

The extra $40 gets you breakfast for 2, free internet, discounted parking, and a 30% discount at the spa because of the special “Just Chillin” rate at the Hilton.

Hilton reportedly gives elite benefits (but not stay credits) when you book through Last Minute Travel Club.  So you could also get free breakfast and internet if you are a Hilton Gold member.

In this example, the special Hilton rate which includes breakfast and internet could be worth paying $40 more.  But it really depends on your needs!

B.  Chicago – Travelodge Chicago Downtown

If you just wanted to pay the lowest price in Chicago, you could book a night at the Travelodge Chicago Downtown for $81.

BOTTOM LINE

All the rates I checked through Last Minute Travel Club were lower than booking directly through the hotel website, but your experience could be different.

It’s worth getting a free membership in Last Minute Travel Club so you have more options when making a hotel booking.  The $50 membership fee is waived so you have nothing to lose!

You can get a free 1 year membership in Last Minute Travel Club when you use promo code “TURKEYSENTME”.

You do not earn elite stay credits but some hotels might give you elite benefits. And all rates are prepaid and there are strict cancellation policies.

So make sure to compare rates before you book to make sure you’re getting the best offer!

  1. Would this potentially be an opportunity to use best rate guarantee with other websites?
If they beat all of these other places prices, this could potentially be a BRG gold mine… Just saying

  2. @Joesph – If I remember correctly, many BRG T&Cs exclude sites that require a membership/login, which this one does.

  3. @Joseph – @ncSam is correct. Since LMTC is a membership site and the only way to see the prices is to be a member, LMTC rates can’t be used for BRGs.

  4. Thanks for the heads up! I got in on the Wideroe mistake, so I’m looking for a hotel in Lisbon next month.

  5. If booked with Barclay Arrival card, will I be able to redeem miles? In other words, how is the booking through LMTC is coded? ‘Travel’, I hope?

  6. @Joseph @ncSam – This is a member only site, so it doesn’t qualify for Best Rate Guarantee matches.

@Lisa – Hope you find something nice! I’ve stayed at the Sheraton in Lisbon which can be a good deal if you can use cash and points to book.

@Lihong – I haven’t yet booked a hotel through the site, but with a name like “Last Minute Travel Club” I’d assume that it is coded as travel!

  7. Daraius, any idea on how long this website is in business? Or is it just a startup?
The point is that I am actually a long-time reader / contributor of several travel-related community boards online and I probably should be ashamed, but I’ve NEVER heard about this one before…
Nonetheless as long as it is free to join I have nothing to lose really. Thanks for the link!

  8. @Ilya They have been around for at least 4-5 years…I know this because there was a promo one time where at a certain time of the day, after watching a video, people could book a hotel stay anywhere in the world for free (which I won!). Easyclicktravel.com is its sister site that often helps to identify the hotel that is hidden on Last Minute Travel

  9. LMTClub has saved me a small fortune. Just as an example, I’m staying at a Vegas hotel that had their lowest priced room at $66. I booked with LMTClub for $33. The hotel is Planet Hollywood! That was my most dramatic score.

Even when checking other websites, including all the usual LAS discount sites, no one came close to this price.

    As always, YMMV.

You can also cancel without issue.

  10. Anyone with experience on car rentals through LMTClub? I need a one-way from PHX to LAX and the rates on here are really good however, I feel like they aren’t giving the whole story. There are several notes about taxes, fees to be paid at the rental counter. I don’t want to get there to find that I have another $500 to pay on top of the booked price. Also, no real mention of cancelation policies on the car rentals. Thanks!

  11. @Ilya – It isn’t a start-up and has been around for a while.

Chanel @ La Viajera Morena – Thanks for your tweet!

@James – I won a week in Prague through that promotion as well!

    @dhammer53 – That’s a great rate! Hope you’re having fun in Vegas.

@Connie – I did a dummy booking and when you click the “Car Details” you get to a page with the total price which his more than the initial price and appears to have all tax included. That said, I haven’t actually booked a rental through LMT, so don’t know if there are additional taxes when you pick-up (though it looks like the final price on the site with tax is accurate).

  12. @Connie and Darius: I booked a car with LMTclub at Hawaii from 12/26 12pm to 12/28 10pm. For all other rental companies (Including Hotwire), it is considered as 3 days and the minimum charge was $600 ($200 each day). However, LMTclub considers this stay as 2 days and charges only $200 ($100 each day). They reserved this on “Dollar car rental”. I am very happy about the rate. However, when I print out the receipt, no time is shown, only the dates are mentioned. I wonder if I’ll get into trouble when checking in with Dollar. If I call Dollar now, will they be able to find my reservation?

  13. @Ashker – I made a dummy reservation for your dates and got the same rate except that it was for Alamo for ~$193. I suppose it should be fine, but you could call if you’d like. That said, LMTClub may not give Budget your reservation information until the day of the booking.

  14. I made a cruise reservation on LMTclub and it beat all quotes we received from all other sites, including cruise compete. There were no problems with the check in or any other part of the process, and I was very pleased with the price.

We have also used it several times for hotels. This is a little more than the opaque sites, but quite a bit less than any other travel booking sites. Especially Marriott hotels seem to have really good rates for low demand times.
