Earn $300 With the Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card
Apply Here: Wells Fargo Propel American Express® Card
The Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card comes with 30,000 bonus points (worth $300 in cash back, travel, gift cards, or other rewards) after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of card opening.
This is a worthwhile offer if you can spend enough to earn the bonus, especially for a card with no annual fee.
How to Earn Points With the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX
- 3 points per $1 spent on travel purchases (flights, hotels, homestays, and car rentals)
- 3 points per $1 spent on eating out and ordering in
- 3 points per $1 spent on gas stations, rideshares, and transit
- 3 points per $1 spent on eligible streaming services, like Apple Music, Hulu, and Netflix
- 1 point per $1 for all other purchases
This card is built for travelers. That’s because it effectively earns 3% back (3 points per $1) on travel purchases like flights, hotel stays, and car rentals. You’ll also earn 3% back on gas, rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, and transit including subways and commuter trains. So if you’re on the go, this card covers lots of the expenses you already have.
And when it’s time to relax, you’ll earn 3% back on dining, including ordering in, and streaming services like Hulu and Netflix. For all other purchases, you’ll earn 1% back (1 point per $1).
How to Redeem Points Earned With the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX
Each point is worth 1 cent, and you can redeem your points for statement credits, cash back, travel, or other rewards like gift cards through the Wells Fargo website. You must redeem at least 2,500 points ($25) to get a reward.
If you want to book travel, you can use points to pay for all or part of your ticket.
The points never expire as long as your account is open. And there’s no limit to how many points you can earn.
Plus, if you also have the Wells Fargo Visa® Signature® Card (which also has no annual fee), you can redeem your points for 1.5 cents each toward airfare through the Wells Fargo portal. Which means you’ll effectively get 4.5% toward airfare for bonus category purchases of travel, dining, gas stations, and more (3X points per $1 X 1.5 cents each)!
Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Benefits
The Wells Fargo Propel American Express card is packed with money-saving benefits!
Amex Offers & Presales
This is an American Express card, and comes with Amex Offers you can activate and add to your card before you shop.
The offers you can access include presales and cardholder preferred tickets to select concerts and shows.
There aren’t as many deals as other AMEX cards issued by American Express, but if you can use an offer, it’s a total win because you’ll be saving money with a card that’s free to keep!
Cell Phone Insurance
Accidents happen! When you pay your monthly cell phone bill with the Wells Fargo Propel American Express card, you’ll get secondary cell phone protection to cover repairs or replacements.
After paying a $25 deductible, you get a maximum of $600 per claim and $1,200 per 12-month period.
Lost phones aren’t covered. And the coverage kicks in if your phone isn’t already covered by another policy, like homeowner’s, renter’s, automobile, or employer’s insurance policies.
This is another perk that can save you money – but hopefully you’ll never have to use it!
The Wells Fargo Propel American Express card offers protection against damage or theft for up to 90 days on new purchases, up to $1,000 per claim and $50,000 per 12-month period.
This is good coverage, but if this perk is important to you, there are other cards with much more protection for your big-ticket purchases.
If you try to return an item within 90 days but the merchant won’t take it back, you can file a claim for return protection. Wells Fargo will let you return the item and cover up to $300 (not including shipping and handling), up to $1,000 per year.
Wells Fargo says:
Extended Warranty doubles the original manufacturer warranty up to a maximum of twelve (12) months on most items you purchase.
Plus, they’ll pay up to $10,000 or up to the original cost of an item (whichever is less) that needs repair or replacement, if the original warranty is under 12 months. And there’s a maximum benefit of $50,000 per 12-month period.
Lost or Damaged Luggage Reimbursement
If your bags are lost or damaged when you travel, you can file a claim for up to $1,000 per trip, with no more than $250 to cover lost or damaged jewelry or fur.
Award trips are covered, but you charge at least $1 on the Wells Fargo Propel American Express card to file a claim.
Again, this is a nice benefit, but other cards have much more comprehensive travel insurance, including delays and cancellations.
Is the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Worth the Annual Fee?
Absolutely, because the Wells Fargo Propel American Express card has no annual fee!
Does the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Have Foreign Transaction Fees?
Who Is Eligible for the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Card?
In the past, Wells Fargo wanted you to have a banking relationship already established before you opened their credit cards. But folks report the bank is more lenient with this card, and doesn’t require a prior history, which is great news for miles & points enthusiasts!
Still, they’re known to be a conservative bank. So if you’ve opened lots of cards recently, you might want to sit this one out for a while.
Customer Support for the Wells Fargo Propel AMEX Card
If you have a Wells Fargo checking account, you can deposit the rewards you earn with this card directly into your bank account, which is a nice touch.
I recently banked with Wells Fargo and found the customer support to be fast and thorough. Plus, you can redeem your rewards directly on their website, so they make it easy to use your points when you’re ready.
They also have a meter that shows you exactly how much more you need to spend to trigger the intro bonus after you log into your account – super handy!
