If you love Anthony Bourdain, you’ll want to check out his new online travel guide, “Explore Parts Unknown.”  You’ll find details about the places he visits on his famous TV show, “Parts Unknown.”

Tips and information about each location are organized into 4 different categories including, “Eat”, “Drink”, “Know” and “Go”.  You’ll also find clips from the TV show, restaurant recommendations, recipes, and travel tips.

“Explore Parts Unknown” Is Packed With Information on Cities All Over the World

It provides in-depth information that other guides don’t offer.  Especially regarding the history of local food and traditional dishes.

For example, you can find a recipe for chimichurri in the section on Buenos Aires.  Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan found chimichurri to be one of the BEST parts of a traditional Argentinian barbecue (or asado).  It’s a delicious, slightly spicy, salty sauce you can drizzle on almost anything.  You can even use it as a marinade!

Million Mile Secrets team member Scott is an Anthony Bourdain fan, and has gone to a few of his restaurant picks.

In Lisbon, Portugal, Scott had lunch at Cervejaria Ramiro, a meal he’ll always remember for the fresh flavor.  He chose lunch to avoid the dinner crowds!

He’s also tried 2 of Anthony Bourdain’s restaurant recommendations in Queens, New York City.  He enjoyed the flavors of the food at the Hindu Temple Society of North America, that offers dishes in a very simple cafeteria.  And he liked the Korean seafood dishes (although he didn’t try the live octopus!) at Sik Gaek.

Scott would NOT call the 2 restaurants in Queens “must-eats,” but if you’re in the neighborhood, they’re definitely worth a try.

You can also read about how to get the most from your miles & points for Big Travel with Small Money.  And if you plan to eat out a lot during your travels (like Anthony Bourdain would do!), don’t forget to use a card that earns bonus miles, points, or cash back, at restaurants.

I’ve written about the best cash back cards for restaurant spending here.  And cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and AMEX Premier Rewards Gold, offer bonus points at restaurants, too.
