Via Miles to Memories, there’s a new premium credit card from US Bank coming May 1, 2017!
The U.S. Bank Altitude™ Reserve Visa Infinite® Card will compete with cards like the AMEX Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Citi Prestige.
It will (supposedly!) come with a 50,000 point sign-up bonus, and perks like an annual travel credit, bonus points for travel spending, a credit for Global Entry, and more.
I’m excited about it, because more credit card options means more competition between banks. And that’s a good thing for folks like us!
Here’s more information about the new US Bank premium credit card.
US Bank Altitude Reserve Card Premium Travel Card Review
Rumor has it that US Bank will issue the new Altitude Reserve Visa card May 1, 2017.
With this new premium card, you can earn 50,000 points after spending $4,500 on qualifying purchases within 90 days of account opening. And the points will be worth 1.5 cents each when redeemed through US Bank’s travel portal.
So the sign-up bonus alone is worth $750 (50,000 X 1.5 cents)!
You’ll also get:
- 3X points on travel purchases
- 3X points on mobile wallet purchases
- 1X point on all other purchases
- 12 free Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi passes per year
- Global Entry fee credit
- Visa Infinite benefits
And according to walla.by, it will come with a $325 annual travel credit, similar to the Chase Sapphire Reserve ($300 credit). But the $400 annual fee will NOT be waived the first year.
Is This a Good Deal?
The valuable perks that come with the new US Bank Altitude Reserve card will help offset the large annual fee. So this could be a great option for some folks!
That said, we don’t know if you’ll be able to transfer the points you earn to airline or hotel partners, like you can with Chase Ultimate Rewards and AMEX Membership Rewards points.
Plus, it looks like you need to be a US Bank customer to apply.
If you aren’t already a US Bank customer, you can apply for a bank account online if there’s a US Bank branch in your state.
Folks currently holding an active US Bank card, can qualify for a US Bank checking account with no monthly maintenance fees.
But don’t forget, this card will impact your Chase 5/24 status. So I recommend getting any Chase cards you want first!
Bottom Line
There are reports that US Bank will issue a new premium card, the Altitude Reserve Visa card, May 1, 2017.
The details of the card have NOT been confirmed. But the sign-up bonus is said to be 50,000 points (worth $750 in travel!).
And the card will come with other great perks like 3X points on travel and mobile wallet purchases, a $325 annual travel credit, and more.
If these rumors are accurate, do you plan on applying for this new card?
