If you’re an AMEX Delta Gold cardholder, check to see if you’re targeted for this latest spending promotion!

Through December 31, 2017, you’ll earn 5,000 Delta miles after every $2,000 in spending you complete with your card.  Up to a maximum of 15,000 Delta miles!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You must register by September 30, 2017
  • You’ll receive your miles within 8 weeks after you complete each $2,000 in spending
  • Authorized user spending DOES count towards meeting minimum spending thresholds
  • Authorized users will NOT receive their own bonuses
  • Any interest or other fees, cash advances, balance transfers, or cash equivalents will NOT count

Earning an additional 5,000 Delta miles for spending $2,000 is like earning an extra 2.5 Delta miles per $1 on regular purchases (5,000 miles / $2,000 in spending).

This is an especially good promotion for folks who have a particular award flight in mind, and need to top off their Delta account!  15,000 Delta miles is more than enough for certain coach flights within the US.

Or, you can use the miles to pay for flights using Delta’s Pay With Miles program.  Where you can redeem Delta miles at a rate of 1 cent per mile to pay for (or discount) the cost of Delta flights.  So 15,000 Delta miles would give you $150 off your next flight!

Bottom Line

Some AMEX Delta Gold cardholders have been targeted to earn 5,000 bonus Delta miles for every $2,000 in spending they complete, up to 15,000 bonus Delta miles.  But you must register by September 30, 2017, and complete spending by December 31, 2017.

Let me know if you were targeted for this deal!

But then you have to fly DELTA. Driving Every Loyal Traveler Away.

Delta changed my stepdad’s flight to Maui from Denver several times in two months. It was first class, too! I bought him first class because he is very tall and deserves that experience, and then they treat him that way. He is 82! They changed his flight from a convenient time of arrival to an inconvenient itinerary, then they changed it AGAIN, requiring him to go from Denver to Minneapolis/St. Paul, then to Seattle, then to Maui.

I was disgusted with the company and would never get the card. There are so many airlines out there that will take better care of us.

I got a targeted offer for my Delta Gold card in late April:
Use your enrolled Card now through 09/30/2017 and take advantage of this Special Offer. You can earn an additional 3,000 miles for every $1,000 you spend in eligible purchases, up to 15,000 bonus miles.

So it is actually a little better than this ($2,000 spend = 6,000 miles). Plus it awards bonuses at a lower spend threshold and has a longer window (late April to Sept. 30 = 5+ months instead of 3).

I should hit $2K spending but that’s it. In retirement now, so it’s more ongoing bills than shopping and use other cards for travel expenses and bonus spend.

Received email notice when I hit the $1K bonus spend threshold and miles were “on the way” – they posted soon after.

How do you know if you are targeted?

Any word on this for the business version of the card??
