Limited Time: 30% Discount on Certain Singapore Airlines Award Flights
Signing up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Here’s our full Advertising Policy.
Through November 16, 2016, you can save 30% off select Singapore Airlines coach and Premium Economy award flights.
You’d usually pay 15% fewer miles when you book Singapore Airlines award flights online. So this deal is double the regular discount.
Valid travel dates for this deal are between February 6, 2017, and May 31, 2017. And to get the discount, Singapore will have to be your departure or destination city.
I’ll explain more about this deal and better ways you can redeem Singapore Airlines miles!
Discounted Singapore Airlines Award Flights
You can save 30% off certain Singapore Airlines coach and Premium Economy award flights when you book by November 16, 2016.
All of the discounted flights include Singapore as the departure or destination city.
The discount applies to flights between February 6, 2017, and May 31, 2017.
You’ll pay high taxes and fees on Singapore Airlines award flights, so you’ll want to do the math to see if using miles makes sense. Although Singapore Airlines miles are easy to earn because you can transfer points from all 4 flexible points programs.
1. Discounted US to Singapore Coach Award Flights
You can get the 30% discount on coach award flights from 4 US cities to Singapore. For a round-trip flight from the US to Singapore, you’ll pay:
- 49,000 Singapore Airlines miles from Los Angeles and San Francisco
- 52,500 Singapore Airlines miles from Houston and New York
But you’ll also have to pay high taxes and fees.
For example, I looked at a round-trip flight departing San Francisco on March 7, 2017, and returning from Singapore on March 16, 2017. With the discount, you’ll pay 49,000 Singapore Airlines miles and ~$552 in taxes and fees.
This same flight only costs ~$822 if you paid cash. So you woudn’t get great value for your miles by booking the discounted award flight.
Of course, you’ll want to do the math to see if it makes sense to pay cash and save your miles for a different redemption.
2. Discounted US to Singapore Premium Economy Award Flights
You can also get the 30% discount on Premium Economy award flights from 2 US cities to Singapore. For a round-trip flight from the US to Singapore, you’ll pay:
- 91,000 Singapore Airlines miles from Los Angeles
- 98,000 Singapore Airlines miles from New York
Similar to the coach deal, you’ll have to pay high taxes and fees.
I found a round-trip flight departing New York on March 3, 2017, and returning from Singapore on March 16, 2017. With the discount, you’ll pay 98,000 Singapore Airlines miles and ~$787 in taxes and fees.
This same flight costs ~$2,340 if you paid cash.
Again, you’ll want to do the the math to see if you should pay cash and save miles for a different redemption.
Better Ways to Use Singapore Airlines Miles
1. Discounted United Airlines Award Flights
You can use Singapore Airlines miles to book award flights on Star Alliance partners like United Airlines. And you don’t have to pay fuel surcharges on United Airlines flights!
You might even be able to save miles by booking through Singapore Airlines.
For examples, it’s cheaper to use Singapore Airlines miles for United Airlines award flights to Hawaii.
With United Airlines miles to Hawaii, you’ll pay:
- 45,000 United Airlines miles for a round-trip coach award flight
- 80,000 United Airlines miles for a round-trip Business Class award flight
- 100,000 United Airlines miles for a round-trip First Class award flight
Compare that to Singapore Airlines miles, which cost:
- 35,000 Singapore Airlines miles for a round-trip coach award flight
- 60,000 Singapore Airlines miles for a round-trip Business Class award flight
- 80,000 Singapore Airlines miles for a round-trip First Class award flight
You can book the exact same United Airlines flights using fewer miles with Singapore Airlines.
Once you find flights that fit with your travel plans, call Singapore Airlines at 312-843-5333 to make your reservation.
2. Singapore Airlines First Class Suite Award Seats
Singapore Airlines A380 First Class suites are one of the best airline experiences in the world. You get champagne, excellent dining options, and a private, enclosed suite with a lay-flat bed.
But First Class suite tickets can cost more than $8,000 if you paid cash!
Instead, you can use Singapore Airlines miles to save you lots of money!
For example, you’ll pay 93,500 Singapore Airlines miles plus ~$288 for a First Class suites award ticket from New York (JFK) to Singapore (via Frankfurt).
I’d gladly pay the taxes and fees on this flight to have an amazing flying experience!
Earn Singapore Airlines Miles
You can move points from all 4 transferable points programs to Singapore Airlines at a 1:1 ratio:
Remember when you transfer 20,000 Starwood points to any eligible airline, you’ll get a 5,000 mile bonus!
You can save 30% off certain Singapore Airlines coach and Premium Economy award flights.
You’ll need to book online by November 16, 2016, for travel between February 6, 2017, and May 31, 2017.
With the high taxes and fees, this is NOT a good deal on most flights. You’ll get more for your miles booking discounted United Airlines award flights or Singapore Airlines First Class Suites tickets!
Remember, Singapore Airlines miles are easy to earn because you can transfer points from all 4 flexible points programs.
