Update:   One or more card offers in this post are no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.  Update:   It looks like Silvercar will only be available in New York for the summer.  According to their Twitter feed, Silvercar’s Brooklyn location will be open until September 8, 2015. Update:   Silvercar now has a new location in Manhattan at 600 West 42nd Street!  It’s open daily from 8 am to 8 pm.

Did you know Silvercar has a New York City location?  It’s the only 1 that is NOT at an airport.

Learn About Renting an Audi Silvercar, and Save Some Money On Your 1st Rental!

I’ll tell you how Silvercar is trying to set itself apart from other rental car companies.  And show you how to save money on your 1st rental!

Silvercar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

I’ve written about my positive experience with Silvercar and what it was like (NOT) speeding in an Audi A4 in Austin.

The company has a location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that might come in handy if you’re visiting New York City this summer and want to save money.

It’s at the McCarren Hotel & Pool at 160 North 12th Street in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, a few blocks from McCarren Park.

This location could be useful if:

Get $25 Off Your 1st Booking and a Free Day

If you use my promotion code, “DDUBASH” when you sign-up, you’ll also get $25 off your 1st rental!

It is valid at all Silvercar locations:

And LoungeBuddy is offering 1 day free on reservations of 2+ days for 1st time renters when you use the promotion code LOUNGEBUDDY at check-out.  But it is NOT available at the Brooklyn location.

The “LOUNGEBUDDY” Promotion Code in NOT Valid for the Brooklyn Location

This promotion code automatically gives you a free day for any rental of 2 or more days.

These promotions are stackable.  So you can save a lot of money!

How to Book

I created a new account to see how much folks who are new to Silvercar could save off a 3-day rental in Miami in August.  So I entered in my dates to check.

For an Audi A4, ~$49 per day isn’t bad!

The Dates I Chose Cost $49 Per Day (Before Taxes and Fees)

But the price dropped when I entered “LOUNGEBUDDY” into the promo code field and clicked “Add.”

~$33 Per Day (Before Taxes and Fees) Is a Good Deal!

I got email confirmation of the free day.

The Free Day Shows up on My Rental Confirmation

And remember, you’ll get $25 back in the form of a PayPal credit.

That brings the price down to ~$31 per day including taxes and fees.

That’s a great deal!

Silvercars are Audis that come with Wi-Fi, satellite radio, GPS, and toll tracking (you’ll only pay for the tolls you use, unlike with other car rental agencies!).

You don’t have to book online.  You can also book via the Silvercar app!

Are There Drawbacks?

You can NOT combine the promotions at the Brooklyn location.

And the speed limit is New York City is under 45 miles per hour in all parts of the city.  So wait until you’re on the highway to drive 10 miles under the speed limit. 😉

I probably wouldn’t rent from Silvercar at their regular prices.  While getting to drive a luxury car is a nice treat, I’d rather book a cheaper vehicle and save money for other things, like food and activities.

But they run frequent promotions, so you can get a great deal from time to time.

Which Cards Should You Use to Rent From Silvercar?

Don’t forget to use a credit card that earns bonus points for travel, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred (which also has primary car rental insurance).  Or use your Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard to earn 2.1% back on $100+ travel purchases, including rental cars!

Here’s a post on other cards with primary CDW (collision damage waiver) car rental coverage!

Bottom Line

Silvercar has a location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that could be a great base for exploring New York City and beyond.

You can get $25 off your 1st booking at any location when you use my promotion code, DDUBASH when you sign-up.

New users also get a free day on rentals of 2+ days when you use the promotion code LOUNGEBUDDY at check-out.  It is stackable with the $25 discount at every location except the 1 in Brooklyn.

Be sure to use a card that earns you bonus points when you book a Silvercar, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Barclaycard Arrival Plus.

I tried Silvercar in Austin and had a good experience.  When they run promotions like the ones I’ve shared here, you can get a great deal on a luxury Audi A4 car rental.

How was your Silvercar experience?
