You have until tomorrow, October 4, 2017, to apply for the Chase Southwest Plus and Chase Southwest Premier cards before their 60,000 point sign-up bonus is reduced.

By earning 60,000 bonus points from 1 personal and 1 small business Southwest card, you’ll have more than the 110,000 Southwest points required in a calendar year to earn the Southwest Companion Pass!

I consider the Southwest Companion Pass to be the best deal in travel.  Because it allows you to bring a travel buddy with you for practically free on any paid or award Southwest ticket for up to 2 years!

To get the biggest value from the Companion Pass, you should earn the bonus from these cards as early in the year as possible.

That’s because the Companion Pass is good through the calendar year you earn the points, as well as the following calendar year.  So if you apply for the cards now, and wait to complete your minimum spending after your December 2017 statement closes, your points will post in January 2018.  And your Companion Pass will be good until December 31, 2019!

Bottom Line

The increased 60,000 Southwest point offers for both Chase Southwest personal credit cards will end tomorrowOctober 4, 2017.

By earning 2 of these increased sign-up bonuses (from 1 personal and 1 business card), you’ll earn more than enough Southwest points to qualify for the Southwest Companion Pass.  Which Emily and I consider the best deal in travel!

I’ve had a sw premier card since 2014 it is still active…>can I apply for another sw premeier card and get the bonus??? I already applied for the other products (business, plus, etc) and it has been less than 2 years on those.

I am trying to time it right to get a 2018 Southwest Companion Pass with almost two years of usage. I applied for my Chase business and personal cards on October 3, 2017 and was approved for both. My question is do I have to complete the minimum spend on both cards after the December 3, 2017 closing date or can I complete the spend on the business card before December 3 and just complete the spend on the personal card after December 3 in order to qualify for a 2018 Companion pass. Many thanks and your website has been a great help.

huge bummer.
My husband didn’t get approved for the cards. He’s near the end of dental school, so I’m guessing they took a look at his student debt, saw how much our income was (not much), and gave him the thumbs down. Dang it! I was really looking forward to this.
