The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card currently comes with one of best travel credit card welcome bonuses in the credit card world: 100,000 Chase points after spending $15,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.

That’s a sizeable spending requirement to achieve — and a tight window to achieve it. But the payoff is unbelievable. We value Chase points at a value of 1.7 cents each, making this bonus worth $1,700 in travel (and tons more if you know the best ways to use Chase points). It’s hard to just let that bonus expire without going for it!!

But there’s a way to earn 50% more bonus points with (potentially) double the time frame to meet that lofty spending requirement. Oh, and you won’t have to pay an annual fee either.

Earn 100,000 Chase points with the Chase Ink Business Preferred

I’ve been eyeing the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card 100,000-point bonus for months. With that amount of points, here are some things you could do (after meeting minimum spending requirements):

  • Book three (or more) round-trip coach flights to Hawaii (105,000 points)
  • Stay with a travel buddy for four nights at a five-star all-inclusive hotel in the Caribbean, like the Hyatt Zilara Cancun (100,000 points)
  • Book three one-way lie-flat business class flights from the U.S. to Spain (102,000 points)
  • Book four round-trip coach tickets from the U.S. to Ireland (104,000 points)
  • Fly round-trip to Japan in first class (110,000 points)

In other words, you can do pretty much whatever you want.

As enticing a bonus as that is, I’ll admit that it would be impossible for me to spend $15,000 in three months without implementing some frowned-upon tactics. I just can’t organically spend $5,000 per month. Cut that requirement in half, and then we’ll talk.

Let’s talk: 50,000 more points and an easier spending requirement

Whether or not you can hit the $15,000 spending requirement in three months, there’s another direction you should be looking to quickly accrue Chase points.

Both the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card and Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card come with their highest-ever bonuses, you’ll earn 75,000-points after spending $7,500 in the first three months of account opening. Opening both these cards would mean you’d earn 150,000 Chase points after spending $15,000 — the exact same figure you’d need to spend to achieve the Chase Ink Preferred bonus!

Here’s the difference, though. If you space out your applications, you could potentially have up to six months to achieve the $15,000 in spending. I say “potentially” because we don’t know how long these monster 75,000-point bonuses will last. The Chase Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited are no annual fee credit cards, after all. These deals are seemingly too good to be true.

I plan to open one at the beginning of December, and one at the end of February. Instead of having to spend $5,000 per month, I’ll only need to spend $2,500 per month. If we get word that the bonuses are decreasing before late February, I’ll just wait as long as possible to open my second card. Subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll alert you to the end date, as well.

Once you earn these two card bonuses, you could do all things you could do from the Ink Business Preferred bonus, or you could:

  • Spend five nights at the Park Hyatt Sydney, which regularly sells for $700+ per night (150,000 points)
  • Fly round-trip in lie-flat business class to New Zealand (160,000 points)
  • Fly round-trip in first class to Greece (135,000 points)
  • Stay four nights at the all-inclusive Hyatt Calala Island, a (nearly) private island off the coast of Nicaragua (160,000 points)
  • Infinity other fun things

How I’ll spend $2,500 per month on my card

When you open a new travel credit card, you may be shocked (and horrified) at how easy it is to meet minimum spending requirements if you just shift all of your spending to that card each month. By funneling all your bills through one card, this requirement shouldn’t be too difficult.

Here are the monthly expenses I’ll be switching to my first Chase Ink card:

  • Rent/utilities – $1,700
  • Cell phone – $150
  • Car/renters Insurance – $180
  • Groceries – $400
  • Eating out – $250

This amounts to a little over $2,500 per month. You can pay many billers that don’t take credit card by using Plastiq. This includes rent, car payments, tuition, and more. There’s a 2.85% fee from Plastiq, so this is only a good idea when you’re trying to meet spending requirements.

Note: you can have all three Ink cards at once. If you can swing the spending, do it. But if that Ink Preferred 100,000-point bonus is staring you in the face and you’re just not sure you can achieve it, this is the easier — and much more rewarding — option.

It’s also important to keep in mind that you can only transfer Chase points to partners if you have one of the following Ultimate Rewards earning cards: the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. Still, points earned from the Chase Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited can be transferred by pooling your points together with one of the aforementioned cards.

Bottom line

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card gives you 100,000 points after spending $15,000. You can think of that as earning at least 7.6 points per dollar (115,000 points / $15,000 in spending). The combined bonuses and spending requirements of the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card and the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card are 150,000 points after spending $15,000. Think of this as earning at least 11 points per dollar (165,000 points / $15,000 in spending).
