Via NoMasCoach, you can use your status with another airline to get elite status with Alaska Airlines.
This means you can enjoy perks with Alaska Airlines like earning bonus miles, free checked bags, seat upgrades, and more!
And it’s not hard to match your status. You just have to email Alaska Airlines! Plus, once you’re matched, you’ll have the status through the end of 2017.

I’ll explain how to match your status!
Match Your Airline Status With Alaska Airlines
Link: Alaska Airlines Elite Status
Alaska Airlines offers 3 status levels: MVP, MVP Gold, and MVP Gold 75K.
The lowest status MVP comes with perks like:
- 50% bonus on earning miles
- 2 free checked bags
- Priority check-in and boarding
With the higher statuses, you’ll earn more bonus miles and have a better opportunity for complimentary upgrades.
The best part with any Alaska Airlines status is you can earn bonus miles on Alaska Airlines when you fly partner airlines like:
- American Airlines
- British Airways
- Delta
- Hainan Airlines
- Icelandair
Even better, you earn miles with Alaska Airlines based on the number of miles you fly, NOT the price of the ticket!
Or you can credit Alaska Airlines flights to other airlines.
To request a status match, simply email elite.flyer@alaskaair.com with:
- Alaska Airlines frequent flyer number
- Name
- Proof of status with another airline (front and back copies of your elite card)
- Copy of most recent statement from your other airline
It will take 2 to 3 weeks for Alaska Airlines to process your request and update your account.
Alaska Airlines doesn’t publish a list of which airline status you’ll get. But folks report these examples:
- MVP match from American Airlines Gold, Delta Silver, United Airlines Silver, and Virgin America Silver
- MVP Gold match from American Airlines Platinum, Delta Gold, Virgin America Gold, and United Airlines Gold
- MVP Gold 75K match from American Airlines Executive Platinum, Delta Platinum, and United Airlines Premier 1K
You can also submit your status from other airlines like Air Canada, Hawaiian Airlines, and Southwest.

I tried requesting a status match to my SW companion pass. The request was denied because I did not earn my pass with paid flights. I got it with 2 SW credit card bonuses and card spending. Oh well, excuse me my seats must be in the front row.
If I have the Companion pass do I take pictures of the card and/or screen shots of the status from my Southwest account? Thanks!
This is the auto response after I submitted my request -answers some questions asked above!
Thank you for your interest in our award winning Mileage Plan. If your request
did not include a copy of both sides of your current elite card and a screen
shot of your online account showing your name, current status and YTD miles
flown please re-submit. Allow 2-4 weeks for processing once we have received
your documents. When your Tier Match is complete, you’ll receive a welcome
email and can check your status at alaskaair.com/myaccount. Please note that
Tier Matches can only be extended once during the life of your account and the
status is valid through 12/31/2017. We look forward to welcoming you into our
program and flying with you for many years to come! Also note, we only offer a
Tier Match for: AeroMexico, Air Canada, American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian,
Jet Blue, Southwest, United, and Virgin America
@Aleca – It doesn’t hurt to submit a request!
@Kevin – You can print a copy online or call and ask them to mail you a copy.
@Iowa Jake @Ryan @Sang Nguyen @Larry – They say it is once per lifetime, but I suspect it may not be enforced.
Is SW companion pass my best chance of match to the highest Alaska status? Can you match multiple times or is it one match per lifetime?
At what point do they start matching status through 2018? I am currently AA Platinum and will be AA Platinum again in 2017. I won’t meet the elite qualifying dollar requirement to earn that status in the future. I am planning on switching to Alaska in 2018. The ability to earn status and distance based miles by flying AA, Delta, or Alaska is very appealing. Hopefully, Alaska won’t switch to revenue based miles anytime soon.
