Love flying Delta?  Here’s some exciting news!

Via CNN, Delta will soon offer free in-flight texting.  So you can stay connected with your friends and loved ones throughout your travels!

I was excited when Alaska Airlines introduced something similar at the beginning of this year.  And I’m glad to see other airlines follow suit!

Delta Is Satisfying Your In-Flight FOMO

Free Texting on Delta Flights

Delta says that free messaging will be available on Gogo Wi-Fi enabled Delta flights on planes with 2 or more cabins.  That’s great news, because literally 99% of Delta planes have Wi-Fi.  So chances are you’ll be able to text on your upcoming Delta flight.

You’ll be able to message through apps like Apple iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp.  And I imagine you’ll be able to text through your native app if your phone supports Wi-Fi calling, too.  But don’t quote me on that. 😉

Unfortunately, this new service does NOT support sending photos or videos.  And free in-flight calling is reportedly NOT in the works.

Other Ways to Stay Connected In the Air

If you’re not flying Delta, you can still stay connected for free with cards like:

Or fly JetBlue, where everyone gets free Wi-Fi!

You can also get free Wi-Fi if you have certain T-Mobile plans.  A couple of Million Mile Secrets team members have T-Mobile in part for this reason!  Check out my review of T-Mobile’s free in-flight Wi-Fi.

Bottom Line

Delta has announced that they’ll soon offer free in-flight texting!  That’s great news for folks who like to stay connected in the air.  And I can’t wait to try it out for myself!
