Here’s what we know so far.

Delta and Jet Airways New Mileage Agreement

Soon you’ll be able to earn and use Delta miles for flights on Jet Airways, India’s second largest airline, based out of Mumbai.

This is good new for folks considering a trip to India.  Because Jet Airways flies to 20 international destinations, including cities like Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Toronto.  And to over 45 locations within India.

In the past, if you wanted to use miles for a Jet Airways flight you could use American Airlines miles, for example.  Like Emily did for a flight from Mumbai to London, and then back to Chicago.  But you could NOT use Delta miles.

So now you’ll have even more ways to earn and use your Delta miles for a trip to India.

And having more options is always a good thing. 😉

We don’t know yet exactly how many Delta miles you’ll earn or need for Jet Airways flights yet, but I’ll let you know as soon as we learn the details!

Other Ways to Visit India

Currently, a one-way ticket from the US to India with Delta costs:

  • 40,000 Delta miles in coach
  • 70,000 Delta miles in Business Class

Note:  Delta doesn’t operate First Class into and out of India.  And they do NOT allow First Class award tickets on partner airlines.

Using American Airlines miles will cost the exact same amount of miles in coach and Business Class, and 115,000 American Airlines miles in First Class.

And you’ll need even more miles if you’re using United Airlines miles, because it costs:

  • 42,500 United Airlines miles to fly one-way in coach
  • 80,000 United Airlines miles to fly one-way in Business Class
  • 140,000 United Airlines miles to fly one-way in First Class

Read my post about using different types of miles to fly to India here.

But the bottom line is, having more ways to use Delta miles to India will be great because Delta’s award ticket prices to India are some of the least expensive!

Need More Delta Miles?

One of the easiest ways to earn Delta miles is by applying for a Delta credit card, like:

You can find out more about these cards on the Hot Deals page.

And, you can transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points instantly to Delta at a 1:1 ratio.  So that’s an easy way to get more Delta miles if you want to book an award ticket.

Bottom Line

You’ll soon be able to earn and use Delta miles for flights on Jet Airways, India’s second largest airline based out of Mumbai.

This is good news for folks who collect Delta miles, because you’ll have more ways to earn and use your Delta miles for a trip to India.

We don’t know yet exactly how many Delta miles you’ll earn or need for Jet Airways flights yet, but I’ll keep you posted as we learn more!
