Good news for Chase Southwest cardholders!  With this targeted offer, you can earn a 15% bonus on points by having a certain amount of Southwest points (earned with your Chase Southwest card) post to your account between February 1 and April 30, 2019.

The bonus points will count towards earning the Southwest Companion Pass.  Which is even better news, of course, unless you plan on taking advantage of the limited-time Southwest Companion Pass credit card offers!

Here’s more about this targeted offer to earn bonus Southwest points.

Platinum Delta Credit Card From American Express 70000 Point Offer Review
Southwest Flies to Many Tropical Destinations.  And the Bonus Points You Can Earn With This Targeted Offer Will Help You On Your Way to Planning Your Next Vacation!

To earn the bonus, the points will have to post to your account between February 1 and April 30, 2019.  The maximum number of bonus points you can earn is 15,000.  And eligible points will have to post to your Southwest account under the under the ‘Credit Card’ category, meaning only points earned with your card will count toward the promotion.

Folks have reported getting different offers, including:

  • Get a 15% bonus when you have at least 10,000 points post to your account
  • Get a 15% bonus when you have at least 25,000 points post to your account

If you’re targeted and have just recently applied for a Chase Southwest card, but have yet to receive your sign-up bonus, there’s a chance you’ll earn bonus points on the sign-up bonus if it posts during the promotional period.  But I wouldn’t count on it because the terms do specifically say that bonus points from a “new credit card promotion” will not be eligible for this offer.

But for the most part, I don’t think this offer is that great unless you’re just shy of the 110,000 Southwest points you need to earn within a calendar year to get the Southwest Companion Pass.  Because you’ll likely do better using some of the other best credit cards for travel for your bonus category spending.

If targeted, do you plan on taking advantage of this deal?

Has anyone had their bonus points post from this promotion yet? I was targeted and signed up but haven’t seen anything yet.

I also signed up for the promotion, and haven’t seen the points yet. I plan to email the rapid rewards folks and see if they have an update.

I applied and received the SW Premier card, mainly for the 40,000 points if spending $1000 in first 3 months. The page with the specs does not say anything about the 40k, just the other items (6k on anniversary, $99 fee per year, 2 pts for xxx, 1 pt for xxx, etc.). Do I need to call and check on this? Or will they just post after spending the $1000?

Hi LH,

Tough to say without having seen the actual page you were applying on. Do you remember which link you used to apply for the card?

If you’re worried about the intro bonus points not posting, you can always send a secure message to Chase via your online account to confirm if you applied through the 40k link.

Points must “POST” to account between Feb 1 and April 30…can someone explain exactly what that means?

That means that the points will need to show up in your Southwest account between those dates in order for them to count toward earning the bonus.

For example, if your January stmt has already closed, spending you do now will post on your February stmt and will count towards this promotion.

I believe that 15% of 10,000 is 1,500, not 15,000.

Yes, with the promo you can earn a maximum of 15,000 bonus points, but you only earn a 15% bonus. So to earn the maximum bonus you’d need to earn 100,000 points.
