Potential Drawbacks

What we don’t know is what kind of fees and limits will be attached to these person-to-person payments.  But it looks a lot like Venmo, another person-to-person payment system.

With Venmo, debit cards are free, but they charge a 3% fee for using credit cards.

If there are fees with Apple Pay’s system, you’ll need to do the math to see what makes sense for you.

Bottom Line

Beginning Fall 2017, folks with iPhones will be able to use Apple Pay to send and receive person-to-person payments through iMessage.

We don’t know the details of Apple Pay’s new person-to-person payment system, like whether there will be limits or fees per transaction.  But I’m certainly hoping they’ll be free!  Because then, you could easily pay back your friend for last night’s dinner and work towards unlocking a card’s sign-up bonus at the same time.

If you’re an iPhone user, do you plan on using Apple Pay’s latest feature once it’s available?
