A handful of airlines are having flash sales at the moment!  Alaska Airlines, Frontier, and Virgin America all have deals that expire either today or tomorrow, September 12, 2017, or September 13, 2017.

I found flights from San Francisco to Salt Lake City for $49 one-way in coach on Alaska Airlines.  And from Los Angeles to Maui for $219 one-way in coach through Virgin America!

Link:   Alaska Airlines Sale

Through September 12, 2017 (today!), you can buy select Alaska Airlines flights for as low as $42 one-way, though most fares are higher.

For example, I found a flight from Dallas to Washington, DC, for $69 one-way in coach on October 3, 2017.

Here are the details:

  • Sale ends at 11:59 pm Pacific Time
  • You must book travel at least 14 days in advance

  • Sale applies to nonstop flights only
  • Tickets are nonrefundable and are only available on flights marketed by Alaska Airlines for travel on Alaska Airlines, Virgin America, Horizon Air, SkyWest, and PenAir

2.   Virgin America

Link:   Virgin America Sale

Virgin America is running a nearly identical sale, that ends September 12, 2017 (today!).

As an example, I found a flight from Denver to San Francisco for $69 one-way on December 13, 2017.

Here are the details of this sale:

  • Sale ends at 9:59 pm Pacific Time
  • You must book travel at least 14 days in advance
  • Valid for travel between September 26, 2017 and December 13, 2017
  • Blackout dates are from November 16 to December 2, 2017

3.   Frontier

Link:   Frontier Sale

Frontier is advertising another 90% off sale on certain routes!  But it ends tomorrow, September 13, 2017.  So take a look to see if these extra cheap prices work for your upcoming travel.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Use promotion code “SAVE90
  • Sale valid for travel through December 16, 2017
  • Sale NOT valid for travel on Fridays or Sundays
  • Blackout dates are November 18, 2017, through November 28, 2017

Frontier Airlines Tips

Frontier Airlines charges extra fees for checked bags, carry-on bags that go in the overhead bin, and more.

These fees can add up quick and take away from your savings.  So do the math to make sure this is a good deal for you!

Hotel Information

If you book a sale flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending.

To find hotels that can be booked with points, I use Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper.

Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.

Note:  If you prefer to book paid stays, check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized!).

Airbnb is another terrific way to save money on accommodations, especially for longer stays.  Here are some tips on how to negotiate a better Airbnb price, and how to find a safe and comfortable Airbnb.

Bottom Line

Alaska Airlines, Frontier, and Virgin America all have flash sales that expire either today or tomorrow!  So take a quick look to see if you can benefit from any of these deals.  Because prices from your home town might be so low, you can’t afford NOT to travel!

Let me know if you jump on one of these sale fares.
