Remember that take-it-or-leave-it Capital One Savor that was available last week?  Well, it just received a big fat overhaul.

Along with the fresh new Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card, Capital One has now introduced the Capital One® SavorOne® Cash Rewards Credit Card.  It’s essentially what the old Capital One Savor USED to be.

You can apply for both the Capital One Savor and Capital One SavorOne here.

The information for the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

New Capital One Cards for Folks Who Love Food!

1.   Capital One Savor

The Capital One Savor is a juiced up version of what it once was.

For starters, the sign-up bonus is more than 3X higher!  You’ll earn a $300 cash bonus after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.

You’ll also earn:

  • 4% cash back on dining
  • 4% cash back on entertainment
  • 2% cash back at grocery stores
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

Capital One says you’ll “receive access to premium experiences in dining, entertainment, and more.”  We’ll have to wait and see what exactly that means.

The card has NO foreign transaction fees.  So it’s a good card to use for your dining overseas.

Along with this bigger bonus and improved earning rate on dining and entertainment comes an annual fee.  You’ll pay a $95 annual fee.

2.   Capital One SavorOne

Apply Here:   Capital One SavorOne

Honestly, the Capital One SavorOne looks pretty much identical to the previous Capital One Savor Offer.  Capital One has practically just renamed it.

The card comes with a $150 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.

You’ll also earn:

  • 3% cash back on dining
  • 3% cash back on entertainment (this is new)
  • 2% cash back at grocery stores
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

The card has NO annual fee and NO foreign transaction fees.

Should You Apply for One of These Cards?

Folks may like the looks of these cards because they earn cash and don’t have confusing rotating category bonuses to enroll in and keep track of.  That’s a definite perk, because nothing is more flexible than cash!

If you spend a lot in the cards’ bonus categories, your cash back will add up in a hurry.

But just know that there’s no way to get outrageous value from your cash back like there is with miles & points.  If you’re willing to research a bit, you’ll find that other cards are much more valuable than these!

We always recommend folks new to the miles & points hobby open all the Chase credit cards you want first.  Because they tend to give you the Biggest Travel!  And they have strict application rules.

If you’ve opened 5+ cards from any bank (NOT counting Chase business cards and these other business cards) in the past 24 months, you won’t be approved for their best cards.

Bottom Line

If you spend a lot on food, and you’re looking for a card with a solid welcome bonus, the Capital One Savor and Capital One SavorOne are good options.  I personally don’t see the Capital One Savor being worth the $95 annual fee year after year, as it only earns 1% more than the no annual fee version.  But let me know what you think!

If you’re new to miles & points, I’d recommend signing-up for all the Chase cards you want first.  Because those are harder to get if you open the Capital One Savor cards first!
