Scott:   I love a great deal for stuff I need to buy anyway!  So back when there was a deal at Target.com to get $20 off $100 purchases (yes, we wrote about it!) I went in on it twice to stock up on my favorite toilet paper.

Whats A CrazyFun Thing Youve Done To Get A Deal I Bought A Years Supply Of Toilet Paper
Yes, All That Toilet Paper Is Just for Me. And I’ll Bring It on My Travels

I live alone in a small apartment with limited storage space.  So I’m currently using the rolls as a mattress.  Just kidding, but I did temporarily use a stack of packages as an end table.

Whenever I travel to Europe, I’m sure to bring 2 things: my Chase Sapphire Preferred card and my Charmin Ultra.  Because I’ve yet to find my favorite toilet tissue over there.  Apparently, the European populace hasn’t yet developed an appreciation for being kind to their behind.

There Are Levels to This

Now that you know way too much about me, I’ll also say, being a Million Mile Secret Agent, I obviously saved more than just $40.  I stacked the deal by purchasing through an online portal(That’s one of our easiest insider tips to earn more miles!)

This time around, it was the Discover portal.  And if I recall correctly, Discover it was awarding an additional 5% cash back for Target purchases during that time.

I like the Discover Deals portal, and it works well with your Discover it® Miles.

Note:   These Discover cards don’t charge foreign transaction fees, which is great.  But I use my Chase Sapphire Preferred a lot more in Europe, because Discover just isn’t accepted by enough merchants.

Dear Target, Was It Really Necessary to Insert Bubble Wrap Around Rolls of Ultra Soft Toilet Paper? (Yes, They Did That)

Shameless plug:   Check Million Mile Secrets frequently so you don’t miss out on the next deal like this!

Now It’s Your Turn to Share

So now that I’ve embarrassed myself by admitting how my love of a deal transcends what most practical people would do… please make me feel better by commenting a slightly crazy or fun thing you’ve done to get a bunch of miles, points, or cash back.

I pay our tax bills (which can be horrendous) on credit cards…the fees are around 3% but I can easily meet min spend on a new card plus some. I do a lot of online shopping and pay all car, home, health, dental, umbrella insurance policies w/ cc along with cable & garbage svc. The fee for utilities is too high at 5%.
I’m looking for a good plan to put a ginormous tax bill on cc’s this year as we had an unusual one-time event…was thinking of putting 30k on each of our BA cards for the companion pass (good idea?) and the other 50k on CSR or Amex Bizplat or SPG?
Craziest thing we ever did was collect the Wendy’s cups for Airtran
free flight vouchers, those were AWESOME! We flew to Vegas and at the airport signed up for our first airline rewards cards….been hooked ever since. Now have around 3 million points & miles between us looking forward to spending them!

I participated in a Kohl’s promotion where you had to buy $100 worth of Dockers clothing for two free airline tickets anywhere in the 48 states, two nights hotel and 2 restaurant.com certificates. After turning in the paperwork (before everything was online) I could never get in touch with the handling agent. After six months of many unreturned phone calls and letters, my persistence paid off and we got our trip. They didn’t know that I absolutely would not give up!

My wife and I booked a mediterainian cruise (penthouse suite)on oceana cruises. This satisfied the spend on both of our sapphire reserve cards. We booked sapphire portel. We ended up with 240,000 ur pts. This got us to Singapore and Hong Kong 6 mts later. With a few avoes we united polaris, ana, and cathy pacific first class. We stayed at intercontentals on points and free nights. We took a $40,000 trip for $4000.

Wow! You earned a vacation by taking a vacation!

I bought the Kohl’s rebated small appliances (8 items x5 max) for 40 appliances I didn’t need. It was great fun giving them away!

Randy, the world needs more people like you. Blenders for everybody!

I pay my phone and utilities a year ahead to meet minimum spends;) Verizon agent is always surprised for me to pay 1,200 at once.

Scott S, you are Verizon’s best customer. They should hang your portrait in their headquarters! 🙂

I pay $1,000 at a time toward my Con Ed bills. The fee is only $3.35/$1,000. It is an inexpensive fee. I too prepay my cell phone, but in NYS I cannot figure out how to prepay my health insurance which makes no sense.
