I write Million Mile Secrets primarily for folks in the US or those who can apply for the terrific US credit card offers.
Canadian readers often ask if there are specific blogs or websites which focus on them, so here’s a list!
Free Resources
1. Rewards Canada
Rewards.ca was launched in 2001 and claims to be the first website dedicated to Canadian loyalty programs. It appears to be the most comprehensive – if not overwhelming – resource for Canadians.2. Canadian Travel Hacking
Steve writes Canadian Travel Hacking. You’ll find a combination of Steve’s personal travel experience along with travel tips and deals.
Here’s my interview with Steve from Canadian Travel Hacking.
3. Canadian Kilometers
Jeff writes Canadian Kilometers and features miles and points deals with a Canadian perspective.
4. Behind the Cockpit
Behind the Cockpit, written by Captain Chris, originally featured a combination of deals and trip reports but appears to have evolved into trip reports.Subscription Based
Canadian Free Flyers is based on the same concept as the Travel Hacking Cartel – pay to get access to information that is available on the internet from sites like Million Mile Secrets, the Points Guy, Boarding Area, and more.Canadian Free Flyers offers 3 levels of membership. Membership is based on a quarterly basis:
- Economy is $27 a quarter
- Business is $37 a quarter
- First class is $87 a quarter
In other words, membership will cost you $108 to $348 a year!
All three levels give you get access to travel hacking tutorials and real-time travel deals. Business gives you accommodation hacking and bonus tutorials and credit reports. First gives you everything you get with business plus one-on-one trip planning assistance.
Is It Worth It?
I don’t think so. Economy level only gives you information about earning free flights. Which can easily be summed up in one sentence: apply for credit cards that offer large signup bonuses.
Earning free hotel stays can also be achieved by credit cards: signup bonuses and using hotel branded cards to earn points to use for free stays. Canadians can get their credit report for free simply by requesting a copy by mail.
You can use an award booking service to help with your award travel for a lot less than $348 a year! That said, you could check it out and cancel for free within the 1st month.
I’m not an expert on Canadian miles and points blogs, so please comment if I missed your favorite Canadian resources!
