Please forgive me if you’ve touched on this and I’ve missed it but how can you not offer posts and opinions on the current state of economy during this corona reality. I understand your well being depends on the credit and travel industries and I really hope you are doing all right. Please know people would appreciate hearing about if the airlines and hotels will continue to pay Credit card bonuses. What are you hearing? How can we as travelers maybe benefit when this is all said and done.

My two cents,

James

Stranded Away From Home After Developing Symptoms

Very much enjoy your newsletter. One critical issue I’ve yet to see addressed is what happens if someone is traveling and develops symptoms while away from home.  If the airlines (and railroads and etc.) start denying service to people with a temperature or other symptoms and the local authorities where they are at the time insist on isolation or quarantine, how will people cope?  Where do you get an extra two weeks of medicine, clothes, nutritional supplements, etc. when you’re away from home?  Who pays your room and board wherever they stick you, and if it’s you, what keeps you from getting gouged by the cost?  Who pays your regular bills if they are ones you pay from home?  What if you don’t have a smart phone, or the one you have doesn’t have all the information on it that you need for an extra two weeks away?  I could go on but I suspect you see my point.  I know current travel insurance policies do not cover this.  I’ve not seen anything that goes into sufficient detail about helping future travelers cope with surprise confinement.  It’s a double whammy – – not only did you get sick while away, now you suffer financial and logistical penalties as well.  I think it would be a worthy topic for you to explore with your experts.  Thanks!

I am an Ambassador member at Marriott Bonvoy. I had a reservation at the Moana Surfrider in Honolulu for April 30-May 5th. Unbeknownst to me, the reservation was cancelled without any notice. I emailed the Ambassador desk and was told that hotel was not taking any reservations until June 1st. Question, if you have a confirmed reservation and it is cancelled by hotel for whatever reason, shouldn’t you be compensated in some why, namely points. Marriott has a policy that if you have a confirmed reservation and the hotel can’t honor that reservation, it puts you up at another hotel and gives you $200 and 90,000 points per night. I understand that this may be due to CoronaVirus and Hawaii’s 14 day quarantine policy. Should I be compensated? Thank you…Bruce

Had an issue with AmEx and had 4 of 5 cards cancelled. Any suggestions who I can speak with to review issue – possibly save 7,000,000 miles? Thank you.

Are there any movements in prices ($ or points) from the Corona virus that we should consider? Additionally… my Amex Platinum’s annual fee is coming up in 2 months and I have a chunk of unused points. Considering the risks with travel right now, any tips on redemption before I have to cancel the card? Transfer to an airline for future use, convert to cash, or anything else maybe?
