Introducing United Airlines Premium Plus Seats – A New Way to Use Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points

United Airlines is now selling “Premium Plus” seats, a fancier version of coach that comes with lots more legroom and bigger seats. They’re basically domestic First Class seats on international routes. Which means United Airlines will be an even more tempting use of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points!

For now, you can reserve these seats on select routes for travel on or after March 30, 2019. They’re not a bad deal if you’re paying cash, but the award price is unreasonable. You’ll currently pay between 120,000 and 150,000 United Airlines miles one-way. That means you’re probably better off reserving a lie-flat Business Class seat!

It doesn’t seem United Airlines has added a saver level award to these seats yet. They’ll be a much better value after that, so you should definitely WAIT until that happens.

United Airlines Premium Plus Seats Look More Like a La-Z-Boy Than a Coach Seat

Here are the first routes to receive this snazzy new class!

Beginning March 30, 2019:

Newark to Brussels, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Paris, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo
San Francisco to Auckland, Beijing, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo
Washington, DC, to Brussels

Beginning April 29, 2019:

Newark to Barcelona and Paris
San Francisco to London
Washington to Paris

Beginning May 22, 2019:

Newark to Brussels and Dublin
Washington to Tel Aviv

Note: It is possible to upgrade to Premium Plus, but just remember if you want to upgrade an award ticket, you must redeem for the higher rate.

Let us know what you think of this new class from United Airlines! It looks to me like the comfiest of the Premium Economy seats I’ve seen from any US airline.
